Re: Have Information on Knox Co. Citizens of 1800's
I did not find obit for Clara's mother but did find one for her father. Danial Leonard Howard who has lived in this community nearly fifty years, died at his home in the north part of the County Thursday, April 26, He was born in Elkhart Ind. Sep 7 1842, being 74 yrs 7 months and 19 days old
In early manhood Mr Howard moved to St Joe Michigan and about 1868 he moved to this county and settled on the farm where he died. While in Michigan he was married to Frances Burket. Three children were born, two boys and one girl. One boy died in infancy and the girl Mary Ann died some two yrs ago. The other son William H is living
His wife died Oct 31 1881. He was again married in Jul 1883 (8th) to Mary Isabelle Harris. From this marriage there were five children: Leonard, Vernon, Mrs Myrtle Slocum, Mrs L A Daman of Rutledge and Minerva who died five yrs ago
Mr Howard was a man of few words, but in the nearly fifty yrs that he lived in his neighborhood he made many friends and no enemies. His word was as good as his bond
Besides his wife and children he leaves eight grandchildren, three brothers and many friends
