Searching for information about William Wooley of Garrard County, KY. Unconfirmed date of death; about 1804. Unconfirmed descendants: William, Crisly, Henry, Peter, Mary Baughman, Michael, John, David, and Margaret. Is his will recorded in Garrard County? When did they arrive in Garrard, and where were they from. My line is through Mary Baughman. Any clues on this "brickwall" will be much appreciated!

I don't know anything about William Wooley, but I do have some information about David Wooley that married Sarah Slavin. Don't know if this is the David Wooley you mention. You may want to write me directly as I don't check this site regularly.

Col. Wooley/Wooly?

I am not related to the Wooley/Wooly line, but am trying to follow up on a story regarding a Col. Wooley who organized an exploring expedition down the Mississippi River and up the Red River in 1815. (My gggrandfather was on this expedition). While on the Red River, all sickened and died except my grandfather and a companion. Later, on their way back to Kentucky the companion also died. I do not know the name of Col. Wooley or where his family originated. I do not know where all were buried. I am just curious as to who Col. Wooley was and where he came from to help in my locating my grandfathers whereabout in 1815. Possibly Green River area in KY.
Thank you in advance:

I descend from Mary Wooley and Col. William Hamilton.Mary was married first to Jacob Baughman. Baughman was killed by indians and she then married Hamilton. Her parents were William and Barbary Wooley. All 4 are buried in the Wooley Cemetery in Kentucky. William Wolley was b c 1704 in Boutetort VA. Barbary (Barbara?) has never been tied to a maiden name. No family or origin has been discovered for William. Mary had children with both husbands. If you are looking for specific info please inquire. I will help if I can. Terry Hamilton Wollin

Hello Terry, I am also a Hamilton searching for the parentage of William Hamilton (married to Mary Wooley). Thomas Hamilton (son of William Hamilton) is my 3GGrandfather. Do you know anything about William Hamilton's lineage? If you do would you be willing to share? I have photos of Thomas and Rachel's graves at the Hamilton Cemetery in Elkhorn, MO. I am happy to send them to you if you do not already have them. Thank you so much for any help you can give me. Carolyn Hamilton Mayo (Manhattan, KS)

Hey Carolyn,
It seems as though William Hamilton dropped from the trees. I've never been able to find anything on his lineage. I am also still trying to locate lineage on the ancester William Wooley and the maiden name of his wife Barbery (Barbara?)
There is an interesting tale about Capt. Hamilton and Mary Ann W in which her first husband, Jacob ,is killed by indians and William saves himself by acting like a chicken.
Have you heard that tale? If not, I will send the whole story. I'd love the photos of their graves. You can find where the Hamilton line marries into the Pettus and Magill lines. My great-grandfather was John Hamilton Magill (m Mary Elizabeth Pettus.) They came to Florida c 1911. That's where I am. So wonderful to hear from you! Terry Hamilton Wollin,

Your comment about Florida caught my attention.

"My great-grandfather was John Hamilton Magill (m Mary Elizabeth Pettus.) They came to Florida c 1911."

Where in Florida did they settle?
Do you know why they went south instead of further west?
