James Keating was born to Bridget Sullivan and Thomas Keating. He had a brother John, and two sisters, Bridget Mary and Elizabeth. He emigrated to New York City, fought in the Civil War and possibly died in New York City in 1896.
His mother Bridget Sullivan Keating remarried to a John Gowing/Gowen.

This townland is in the area of Fermoy, County Cork.
