Just noticed that you asked about any Carter's that were part of the Rockingham Co. Regt. My great great Grandfather Thomas Benjamin Carter was a private with the 13th regt, I company. He enlisted on May 05, 1861 and was discharged on Oct. 09, 1861 due to a disability. I have tried to find him after that in the 1870 North Carolina Census but was unable to locate him. I have also had no luck locating his wife Martha Walker and feel both of them had passed away. His children Robert age 16 and William age 19 were found living with a William Loftus as farm laborers. No record of his daughters Sarah A and Mary E could be found, but Sarah could have married and Mary would have been 14 in that 1870 census. Could anyone help me find there what happen to them.?
