Searching for parents and siblings of Henson/Hanson Lock, b. abt 1833 in Switzerland Co. IN. He married Drucilla Way, daughter of Ira D. Way.

Henson's brother may have been William Lock b. 25 Jun 1835 in Moorefield, Switzerland Co. IN. William married Eliza J. Way, whom I believe to be a sister of Drucilla mentioned above.

I have some information on the Lock family of Switzerland County as follows:
John Lock Sr. B:1805 married Elizabeth Rogers 10 March 1824 I dont have data on her. John died 10 april 1889, near Moorefield. I dont have children of this union except for John W. Lock, Jr who married Melinda McKenzie on 20 Jan 1859. Appears to be 10 children by this marriage.

Hansen Lock may have been a brother to Mary Lock b.abt. 1827 Switz. Co. ? Mary mar. John Brindley JUly 26, 1846. Have not located parents of Mary Lock

Both John Lock (b. 14-Jul-1806 d. 10-Apr-1889) and Mary "Polly" Lock (b. 26-Dec-1826 d. 20-Aug-1906), wife of John Brindley, were children of William Lock (b. 20-Jul-1779, VA d. 3-Dec-1854, Switzerland Co., IN) and his wife Nancy Keith (b. ca. 1787, PA or MD and d. 4-Jan-1839, Switzerland Co., IN). John Lock's wife, Elizabeth Roger (1800-1877) was the daughter of Stephen Rogers and his first wife Nancy. Nancy Keith Lock appears to have been the sister of Nicholas Keith and is perhaps descended from a 17th century settler of Maryland named George Keith. I know nothing about William Lock's ancestry, however.

William and Nancy Keith Lock were living in what is now Switzerland County by at least July 1806 and they were among the founders of Long Run Baptist Church. Both William and Nancy are buried in the Long Run Cemetery (as are John and Elizabeth Rogers Lock, as well as their son and daughter-in-law Henry and Sarah Jane Tower Lock -- the latter couple being my ggg-grandparents).

William and Nancy Keith Lock had at least four children: John (1806-1889), William Jr. (b. 1809), Samuel (b. 1811), and Mary "Polly" (1826-1906). I believe that Nicholas Lock was almost certainly among their other children and it seems likely that there were others as well.

I'll be happy to exchange information on the Locks with anyone who cares to do so.

From records that I have seen I believe that William Lock's father was Peter Lock, Senior. I believe that William had a brother named Peter Jr. My sources are from old Courthouse records.

Thanks for those who responded to my query. A generous researcher checked for me and found my Henson Lock among the children of Martin Lock and his wife Mary in the 1850 Switzerland Co. IL census. The other children of Martin and Mary were:William, John, Nicholas, Sarah, Nancy, and Mary.

I found a marriage record for a Martin Lock and Polly Bright, dated 5 June, 1832, whom I believe to be the same Martin and Mary that I am looking for. There was also a reference for a Nicholas Lock marrying Nancy Bright in Switzerland Co. IL on 14 October, 1829. I believe Nicholas may be a brother to Martin. There were a number of Lock families in the area and the names Martin and Nicholas occur frequently, making it difficult to sort them out.

I would love to hear from anyone researching these particular Lock, Way, and Bright families.

I'm curious, about your BRACE line. Do you have a Caroline BRACE born in the 1820s.. who married a Charles W. Sherman? Or a Rachel BRACE, born between 1785-1800, presumably her mother? I am trying to put the family of Peter Sherman, of Switzerland Co. together. I'm looking for any information on Caroline (E.) BRACE, specifically where she might be buried, and any info on Charles W.
