Edmond Joseph Duquette was born on Aug. 10, 1896 in N.H. and died in Sept., 1971. He lived his entire life in Nashua, N.H. and died there. He was son of Ephraim Duquette and Melvina ( maiden name unknown ), who were both French and born in Canada, most likely in Quebec. Edmond Joseph Duquette married Merilda Lariviere ( b. Aug. 16, 1900 in St. Johnsbury, VT. ) on Jan. 29, 1917 in Nashua, N.H. Merilda Lariviere died on Sept. 12, 1978. She was daughter of Jean Lariviere and Marie-Jeanne Daigneault. I have her line all figured out. I am searching for information concerning the parents of Edmond Joseph Duquette, Ephraim and Melvina Duquette, who were living in Nashua, N.H. during the 1900 census. Ephraim was born ca. 1859 and Melvina was born ca. 1864. I am searching for information concerning them and their family origins. Any help would be very much appreciated. Jean Mayo

Hi Jean;
I found a good possibility for a match for you.
There's an Ephrem Duquette marriage to Malvina Lafrance on 10 MAY 1881 in St-Germain-de-Grantham. Ephrem's parents were Pierre Duquette and Marie Desanges Lemery. This Ephrem was born and baptized on 30 MAY 1858 in that same parish.
Malvina's parents were Louis Lafrance and Marie-Louise Brazeau.
Do you have access to the Droiun images on Ancestry.com? If so, you should be able to find the associated images. If not, let me know and I can mail them to you.
As I said, I think it's a good match, but not proof. More evidence could probably be obtained at the Nashua Public Library. Is this someone in your direct line?

Re: Edmond Joseph Duquette and Merilda Lariviere of Nashua, N.H.
Hi Mark, I do not have access to the Drouin images on Ancestry.com, unfortunately. I am researching this Duquette line for a co-worker of mine. Her Duquette line is the following:
1. Normand Horace Duquette ( b. May 31, 1927; d. July, 1973 ) and Helen Miller ( All that I know about her is that she was from Weare, N.H. and was born in the early 1930's; parents unknown at this point ).
2. Edmond Joseph Duquette ( b. Aug. 10, 1896; d. Sept., 1971 ) and Merilda ( a.k.a. Marie Ida ) Lariviere ( I have her line all done ).
3. Ephraim Duquette and Melvina ( both born in Canada according to census records: Ephraim was born ca. 1859 and Melvina was born ca. 1864. They were living in Nashua, N.H. during the 1900 census. Their first child was born in ca. 1882 ).
The information that you provided does seem to fit with their census record information. I will contact the Nashua Public Library per your suggestion.
Thanks again for all of your help and for pointing me in the right direction. Jean.

Re: Edmond Joseph Duquette and Merilda Lariviere of Nashua, N.H.
Just a bit more information to add to my last posting reply to you: Helen Miller was born on June 13, 1934 and she died in June of either 1995 or 1996, according to my co-worker for whom I am doing this research for. Helen was living in Weare, N.H. at the time of her death. Jean.

Re: Edmond Joseph Duquette and Merilda Lariviere of Nashua, N.H.
In the 1925 Nashua City Directory, Emphrem is listed as having died March 24, 1924.
Melvina survived at least until 1937. It's not clear, but she may have died in 1937 or 38.

Re: Edmond Joseph Duquette and Merilda Lariviere of Nashua, N.H.
I was able to confirm that the parents of Edmond Joseph (a.k.a. Joseph Edmond) Duquette were Emphrem Duquette and Malvina Lafrance. This according to the Baptism index of St. Louis de Gonzague, Nashua. According to this source, he was born and baptized on 11 AUG 1896. The record also notes "Father from St. Germain QC, Mother from Ottowa QC". I'm sure they meant Ottowa Ontario, not QC.
The marriage index for St. Francois Xavier, Nashua, corroborates the name of Edmond's parents.
Ephrem died 24 MAR 1924 and was buried 27 MAR 1924 in St. Louis de Gonzague Cemetery (the "new" one). The burial index gives his place of birth as St. Germain, QC. Malvina died 11 AUG 1937 and was buried 14 AUG 1937.
I have the obituaries for both Ephrem and Malvina. His appeared on the front page of the Nashua Telegraph, 24 MAR 1924. He died of a sudden heart attack returning, after dinner, to his job as a loomfixer at the Jackson Mill. Malvina's obituary gives her date of birth as 25 MAY 1863 in "Levi, P Q".
Given the evidence that Edmond's mother was LAFRANCE and they were from St Germain and Ottowa, respectively, I would say this confirms the marriage contained in my earlier post is that of Edmond's parents.
I have the supporting documents if you need them.
