My earliest ansestor I have is my 8x grandfather Richard Coe born about 1605 in Saffron Walden Essex. He married a Elizabeth in 1625. Could anyone give me any info of his earlier ancestors? I have records of later Coe's in Saffron Walden if anyone is interested.

Hi there, Just looking through for any info on the Coe family from Essex, I do not have any information on my father's family, I know they were Londoners. I myself came to Australia from London in 1954 with my parents but my Dad never spoke of his father and mother's names.
Thankyou so much for your help.
Elizabeth

Hello Brian

You are further along than me.
My father born 1921 in SW Horace Coe
His father born 1894 in SW Harry Coe
His father born 1852 in SW(I think) Albert J Coe

would be fascinated to see any of your history , its probably linked somewhere along the line. Saffron Walden was only a small place .(I last there in 1963) maybe not such a small place now

Dave

Dave,

How nice to hear from you. I was in Essex and Suffolk three years ago searching for our roots. I had a wonderful visit with William Coe of "Coes" in Ipswich. I also spent time in Boxford, Groton and Gestingthorpe, where the Coes lived 1340-1800s.

Have you heard of the Coe Family DNA Project? It's open to all Coes worldwide. You can scientically find your parent family. Perhaps we are relatives.

Hi Dave
There is a message I sent in August 2003 about the Coes in Saffron Walden . The earliest is Richard Coe b 1605 my 8x great grandfather to Fred Coe who left in about 1870 to go to London. So I have about 7 generations that came from Saffron Walden.
regards Brian

Hi There
I've been searching through boards, trees etc., looking for any information on Ann/e Coe c.1770-80 who married Edward Gatward, St. Marys, Saffron Walden in 1796. We know of their children Harriet 1802,Robert 1806 and Henry 1809 all born in Castle Hedingham area. It is from Henry that my husband is descended. But we're having no luck finding out about Ann prior to her marriage.
If anyone can offer any help with Anns 'Coes' side it would be much appreciated. I know it's been quite a while since the last message here re; Coes and Saffron Walden but I'm getting desperate.

Kindest regards.
