I am looking for any information anyone might have regarding William Christopher Brooks who was born in Georgia around 1843. His wife was Anola (or Ola) and his daughter Ceola (or Cola). They are listed in the 1880 census for Fort Gaines, and I need help determining if they died in Fort Gaines. I can find nothing on them since 1880. Also, there was an 1875 article in the Cuthbert paper discussing William C. Brooks and he was working with Mr. Peterson of the Central Hotel. Does anyone have a photo of this Hotel? Thank you for any help, I am at a definite dead-end.

My family is from Fort Gaines but I can't really remember what is at the intersection where the old Central Hotel was located. Your best bet is to contact the Fort Gaines Historic Society. Jean Turn is the librarian at the Clay County Library (Kinchafoonee Regional Library System - http://www.fortgaines.com/library.html)and while I don't think they have a photo of the Hotel they may be able to put you on the track to finding what you want.
