I am very interested in the BLACKBURN families who lived in Lake Providence. Here is the 1860 census on one of the families:
1860 LA, Carroll Parish, Post Office or Local Community of Delphia:
BLACKBURN, David F., 50, M, Planter/Physician, 100,000/100,000?, KY
BLACKBURN, Catharine, 38, F, Wife, Ohio River? KY
BLACKBURN, Mary S, 20, F, Miss
BLACKBURN, Catherine, 18, F, Miss
BLACKBURN, Tho. J., 16, M, Miss
BLACKBURN, Elizabeth, 14 , F, Miss
BLACKBURN, George W., 8, M, LA
I am wondering if your Kate is the Catherine, age 18, in the above census or perhaps she is the mother. If so, her father (or spouse) was David Flournoy BLACKBURN. There were four BLACKBURN men who settled in the parish. David and his wife Catherine came from Kentucky and they owned Shelburn Plantation. Dr. Henry BLACKBURN married the widow Elizabeth Beiller BOSWORTH, wife of Judge Felix BOSWORTH. I am VERY interested in learning what became of Elizabeth and her two young children, Ana and Felix. I cannot locate Henry BLACKBURN in the 1860 LA census although he is in the 1850 LA census. I believe I may have located another marriage record for him in Kentucky to Mary C. BRYAN after his marriage to Elizabeth. DID THE BLACKBURNS REMAIN IN LA OR DID THEY GO ELSEWHERE?? If anyone has information on the BLACKBURNS, I would really appreciate learning anything I can about them.
