I have been trying for several months to correctly link my Grandfather to his parents, etc. I know that he raised his family in Kansas. Unfortunately he and his wife, Bessie Harris Nelson, have passed away. Of their 5 children only one is living. She is not willing to participate in documenting the Harris/Nelson family line. I have been unsuccessful in finding (online) any source records in Kansas. I would greatly appreciate if someone in or near Topeka would be able to locate any records of the Nelsons and/or Harris family lines. My Dad was in the Air Force when he married my Mom. They moved around a lot and settled in my Dad's home town area, Kings Mountain, NC.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. William Edward Nelson Jr., 68, of 921 Church St., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at his residence.

A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery with Mike Smith and Claude Pearson officiating.

Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Many thanks for your post. I didn't have this information. The William Nelson Jr. in this obit is my Uncle, the son of William Nelson and Bessie Harris Nelson. He stayed with us, off and on, for many a year!

The only birth information I have for my grandparents is:

William Edward Nelson, abt 1884, in Kansas;

Bessie (Bessa)(Betsy) Arline Harris Nelson (she is reference by several differnt first names, her middle name was Arline), abt 1896, in Kansas
