Hello, Im an currently working on finding my family, we seem to have come from a vast background and im struggling to make all the ends meet, I am Currently looking for my Great Great Grandfather ITCHI From my dad's mum who was from japan, the story ive been told is that he was kidnapped from japan and brought over here to be in the circus, he was a trapeze artist (possibly with the wirth's circus??). I can not find anything on him only a marraige certificate for him and my great great Grandmother Catherine O'Brien. My Mums Fathers side are Dynan's I cant seem to get past my great grandfather James Joesph Dynan? Lastly My Great Grandfather Roy Morley Bowen on my dads fathers side is as far as i can go on the BOWEN's.

If anyone is able to help me out with some hints or has any information at all in regards to anyone from my family i would really appreciate the help. I am also more than happy to share what i have on my tree already and im currently in the process of getting my photo's together and uploading them.

Thanks for your time

manda,
You dont mention what state in Australia the surnames are from, however I was able to locate a James Joseph Dynan in Victoria.

Died in 1931 Essendon aged 74, the son of Patrick Dynan & Catherine Murphy. Married to Margaret Hickey had several children.

james is buried in Fawkner cemetery along with his wife and his son James Patrick Dynan.

Is this the one you are looking for ? If so I will try and locate some further info for you..

As for Roy Morley Bowen, can you give some further info on him , place of birth, when born, who married and any children he may of had.

Hahaha Thanks Debbie i knew i forgot an important detail anyways.. Thanks for getting back to me :) Ill look into the info you have found, cause you nevery know :)

Roy Morley Bowen the info i have is-
Born 23 March 1903 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. He married Ivy Harriet Thompson - Born 04 June 1903 in Grafton, New South Wales. They had 5 children Brenda Bowen, Lloyd Bowen, Morton Bowen, and my grandfather Greig Bowen who have all passed on and Valerie Bowen who is still alive and living on the QLD/NSW border. His parents i think are John Bowen and Alice M but thats all i have, no birth dates or even anything too solid to link them?? Most or maybe even all live/d around brisbane.

As for the others - Dynan
James Joesph Dynan Born 1886 in Sydney NSW is my great grandfather, he died in Byron Bay NSW and married an Ethel Adelia Dooley. His Dad I think is James Dynan 1859 - death record for Murwillumbah NSW in 1915. James had 2 Partners Margaret Sweeney and the other im not sure of her name but i seem to have found a record of it?

Bowen - Brisbane and Victoria (my grandfather Greig Bowen was born in Fish Creek?)

Itchi - My Great Great Grandfather came from japan and he could have set up residence anywhere but he lived in brisbane when he married My GG Grandmother Catherine Itchi (Maiden Name - O'brien) I have nothing on him at all?? I cant find him at all..

ITCHI

Catherine Elizabeth Obrien married Okano Itchi he was also known as Albert Khan ITCHI. their marriage entry has him listed as Kan Itchi, they married QLD 1898
They had children Alice, Cecil, kathleen, Edward & Florence and possibly more..
Catherine & Albert (died 1917) are buried together at Sth Brisbane Cemetery QLD along with Violet possibly their daughter who died in 1920
i have a suspicion that Khan / albert / Okano was previously married in NSW.. to Margaret McDonald ?

Catherine Elizabeth Obrien was born in QLD 1874 she had about five siblings

Catherine Elizabeth died 1946 Queensland and is listed as the daughter of Patrick Obrien & Mary Ann Ferris

Okano Itchi died 1905 this could be the father of Khan / Albert / Okano ?/

Hi Manda,

If you have a look at this link and scroll through the articles you will find lots of mentions - Kan Itchi seems to have performed mostly with another Japanese acrobat called Bungero (sometimes spelt Bungaroo).

Thanks so much,

That seemed very helpful and would explain a picture i found of my great great grandfather. There was actually 2 pictures and both of them had 2 men in them with what appeared to be equipment for their show. They are sadly only black and white photo copies, we assumed this to be a brother but maybe it was the other man?? Thanks for your help.

Manda :)

Manda,
The info is all online.
It is a good thing to order the marriage certificate of Catherine & Khan/Albert. It will guide you further as to his parentage

Indexes for QLD (go to family history research then historical search index) you can find all the births deaths and marriages there... registration numbers are available for ordering certificates

http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/justice-services/births-deaths...

For NSW

http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au

You can also search the Queensland state archives, just google that one..

If you need further assistsnce just yell out !

Debbie

Hi Manda,
When was your grandfather born in Fish Creek ? I have had a look. Births in Victoria go up to 1920.
