Lost Great-grandpa Lewis

My great-grandfather, Thomas Lewis, lived with his family (Including my Grandma Myra) in Mount Ayr, Iowa from the late 1870's thru the 1885 Iowa State census. After that, he disappeared (probably died) but his family continued to live there thru 1900. Can't find him in Ringgold County cemeteries. Anyone with access to any death records for that time period do a look-up? He was
married to Ann Maria Lewis, who IS buried in RoseHill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, but no sign of him. Please help if you can. Thanks, Terry Hess

I am unable to find a record of his death, but she is called a widow in the 1900 and 1910 census, still in Ringgold County.
