Somewhere in my family tree ther are some Fiveash relatives. However, I am not sure of any othe first names. I am interested in knowing if Fiveash is a Native American Name. Can anyone share info on the history of the Fiveash name?

The Fiveash name is native american, and I have the story of it. One of my great-great-great grandfathers (I'm not exactly sure how far back) was found by Indians underneath five ash trees. That is how we received our last name.

The way the story is told is that a white family found a little boy (six months old) underneath five ash trees. They never found the boys parents or any other family of his so they named him Enoch Fiveash. I don't know what tribe, if any, that he came from, but I do know that we he grew up he married and moved with his wife, her sister and thier family to Texas, near Austin. I can find out more, but don't have all the information right here, it's at my other house.

Thanks for the information. I think my Fiveash connection may be on my Ggrandmother's side. Her name was Nancy and she married John Thomas Jones and they lived in Wise County Texas for awhile. They are on the 1870 census there.

My mother's maiden name is Fiveash. Her mother, my grandmother, is going to try to get some more information for me on the name and people related to me. If I find somebody named Nancy Fiveash (?) from Wise County, then I'll let you know. I'm not sure how long it'll take for me to get this information, but keep in touch. You have my e-mail address.
