Looking for Coffman connections from Limestone Co. I was in Athens on 1/23/04 & found great data in the Archives at the annex, but time did not permit finding cemetery records that would have let me know where most of the Coffman's are buried. I understand that most were from the NW part of county, across the Elk River. After returning home, I was disappointed to find out that most of the records were not accessible via internet. My lineage is David Harmon Coffman > Lovell J > Lovell S. > James Alfred Coffman, my Gr.grandfather who is buried in Crockett Co., TN

Alice, Thanks for your reply. I'm most interested in the Coffman cemetery you mentioned, & if there is a listing for it. My branch of Coffman ( Lovell S. Coffman > Lovell J. + Mary Fielder ) moved towards what is Crockett Co., TN in the mid 1800's . Most are buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Friendship, TN, along w/ Craigs, Harwell & Martin relatives. ((Crockett county has a terrific interactive site that you can access ALL the cemetery list, plus pictures of many of the tombstones.)) So, I'm most interested in the early to mid 1800 births & deaths. I have a lot of the data from David Harmon Coffman forward, w/ some research data that traces David's KAUFFMAN roots thru PA & even back to Germany & Switzerland.

Alice, I would like to know exactly where the Coffman cemetery is. (where I can find & reference it on a map) My Coffman relatives were from David Harmon Coffman > Lovell S. > Lovell J. > James Alfred, who was my Gr Grandfather. These last 2 are buried in Crockett Co., TN as well as several cousins ie.Craigs, Martins, Harwell. I have not found the two family names in my branches of Coffman. It would be great if Limestone Co., had all their cemeteries listed & interactive searchable like most I have been searching in W. TN. Check out the one I mentioned above & you will see what I mean. Thanks for the clues, Lary Walker

I will have to get my Mother to give you the exact location. In case you didn't know this there is a book on David Harmon COFFMAN's (KAUFMAN) ancestors at the Limestone county Archives office. Did you know there are a lot of them buried at Anderson Cemetery in Lauderdale County at the Old Primitive Baptist Church?

Alice, I saw the book at Limestone archives & made copies of over 20 pages of it. The anonymous individual that did the research on all of those Coffman decendants of David H. Coffman is to be commended. I'd like to shake their hand &/or share my family data w/ them, since it was missing.

I did not know about the Coffman's buried in Lauderdale Co., I'd be interested in any details & where that cemetery is. I have tried to do some web reseach on my Turnley roots from there but didn't have much luck.

Let me know if you would like to exchange info on the Coffman families. I've gathered a lot in the last several years.

I don't know if your aware of this or not but the archives will be moving into the L & N train depot station. They have ran out of room. I do not know the exact date but will keep you posted.
