I am descended from a Mary Ann Rush of Greene Co., PA who married Aaron Armstrong. Mary Ann's father was David Rush b.4 Feb 1772 and Mary Lewis b. 1770. David Rush's father was also David Rush b. 1772 in NJ. I was given this info and have really not much more than looked at it. Mary Ann Rush was b. 1808. I have a list of her brothers and sisters. I am not sure of the authenticity of it all but the Rush line goes back several more generations.

Does your Mary Ann Rush, b 1808, have a sister Rachel Rush who was born 1804? Rachel (Rush) Martin was the wife of Daniel M. Martin. Daniel and Rachel (Rush) Martin are named in their son's biographical sketch in Samuel Bates' Biographical History of Greene County, 1888. In the 1880 Census schedule for Center Twp. Rachel Martin is a 75 year old widow living in the household of her son Levi H. Martin and his wife Rachel Martin. She is noted as born in PA. Rachel and her husband are buried on the Johnson Farm.

Rachel (Rush) Martin was the grandmother of my great grandfather Samuel David Martin. His father was Silas Waters Martin and his mother was Caroline (Crouse) Martin.

My info shows Mary Ann Rush was the daughter of David Rush and Mary Lewis Rush. I show several sisters and brothers but no Rachel. Elizabeth, Nathan, David, Abraham, Daniel, Letta/Letitia, Methiah/Thire, Lucinda, and Phebe, were sisters and brothers from Greene Co. I believe Morehead Rush was the father of David.

My grandmother, Anna Hester Morris, was born Oct. 08, 1899 near Waynesburg, Greene Co, PA. Her father was Thomas Morris and her mother was Elvira Rush. My grandmother was orphaned at a young age and raised by a family named Johnson or Johnston on a farm between Herman, PA and Saxonburg, PA. Anna's brothers were Alta, Harry and Raymond. Her sister's name was Goldie. Is there any connection?

Well Mark, it kinda depends upon WHICH Rush line you may be referring to. There were some Rush brothers and their combined families that migrated to Greene county from New Jersey in the late 1700s/early 1800s. There were some others who migrated from Virginia, and there may also have been still more who came from other areas. John, Jesse, Jacob, and William who came to Greene county from New Jersey with their families are in my ancestral line, but I still need to verify this...........
