Researching the John Small line (b.1761, Lee,N.H.} listed in the History of Canterbury, NH. His children all born in Canterbury listed as:
Hannah (b.1786), Samuel (b.1789), John (b.1791), Keziah (b.1791), Jeremiah (b.1794), Abigail (b.1796), Betsey (b.1798),
Isaac (b.1801), Sally (b.1803).
Anyone following the lines of these children? I have information on John (b.1791). He and brother Samuel migrated to Marshfield, VT.

Hello:
How nice to finally hear from someone researching the Canterbury SMALL's! I have the same information you have on the line. About 4 years ago I met a lady and her husband at the NH Archives in Concord whom I believe were researching Ephraim Small. Was that you by any chance? I have always felt that Ephraim was probably a son of Isaac, but have never been able to prove it. If you want any additional information I have, I will be happy to share with you. I can tell you that Isaac b. 1730 passed his Canterbury land on to son John, b. 1761. If Ephraim is also a son of Isaac, he was probably younger than John b. 1761.

DEAR LINDA
I DID NOT RESEARCH SMALL IN N.H. UNTIL AFTER JUNE OF 07. I PLAN TO GO TO THE REGISTRY OF DEEDS FOR ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.H. TO SEE IF ANY PROPERTY WAS TRANSFERRED TO EPHRAIM OR HIS SON WILLIAM. I ALSO WILL CHECK THE PROBATE COURT FOR ANY WILLS OR OTHER COURT PAPERS. YESTERDAY I COPIED 135 PAGES FROM THE EDWARD SMALL GENEALOGY AT THE LIBRARY. HAVE YOU READ IT. IT DOES GIVE THE LINE UP TO ISAAC BORN 1730 AND MENTIONS HE MARRIED HANNAH CARTER. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON HER LINE IF MY WORK IS CORRECT HER BROTHER AND OR UNCLE WAS EPHRAIM CARTER. MY HUSBAND DESCENDS FROM EPHRAIM. I HAVE PROVEN THIS FROM THE VITAL RECORDS OF N.H. AND MA. I AM A SMALL DESCENDANT HOWEVER MY LINE WENT TO DEER ISLE, ME
IF I CAN FIND NO PROOF I WILL TRY THE DNA DATA BASE.

I have just started helping my mother research the Canterbury Smalls. We desend from Ephraim Small. We do have some photos if you are interested. So far we have the following info from my grandfather Robert Small. Ephraim was my grandfather's great-great grandfather. Ephraim was born around 1765, he moved to Northwood in 1793 and died on Nov. 28, 1841. He married Mary Burleigh and had seven children: William, Samuel, Moses, Josiah, John Nathaniel, Nancy, and Lydia. John Nathaniel is my grandfather's great-grandfather. He married Mary Evans and had at least one child George. They are all buried at Harvey Lake Cemetary in NH.
If you have any info. I would appreciate it.
thanks

DEAR KBCOUGHLIN
MY HUSBAND IS DESCENDED FROM EPHRAIM THIS WAY EPHRAIM, WILLIAM SR. WILLIAM JR. GEORGE HENRY, AND FRANCIS SMALL. I HAVE COPIED EPHRAIM'S WILL AT THE ARCHIVES AT CONCORD, N.H.
I CAN SEND YOU A COPY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE. THE WILL DOES NOT MENTION CHILDREN ONLY A WIFE SALLY I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL TO HAVE A COPY OF ANY PHOTOS YOU CAN SHARE.
WILLIAM SR. AND WIFE JOANNA[BLAKE] ARE BURIED IN THE CANTERBURY RD. CEMETARY IN NORTHWOOD, N.H. EPHRAIM IS MENTIONED IN THE EARLY DWELLINGS OF NORTHWOOD, BUT NO PHOTO OF HIS HOME WAS APARENTLY AVAILABLE TO PUT IN THE BOOK.
I AM ALSO A SMALL DESCENDANT. MY LINE LEFT MAINE FOR TRURO, MA. THEN WENT TO DEER ISLE, ME.
I HAVE TENTATIVELY PLACED EPHRAIM AS THE SON OF ISAAC SMALL BORN CIRCA 1730 PROB. IN N.H. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROOF OF EPHRAIM;S PARENTS PLEASE LET ME KNOW. ISAAC MARRIED HANNAH CARTER WHO MAY HAVE HAD A BROTHER EPHRAIM, SO I HAVE USED THAT AS A POSSIBLE CONNECTION BUT ALAS NO PROOF YET.
I AM BEGINING TO POST THE SMALL LINE AS PROVEN TO A SMALL FAMILY TREE. LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN ACCESS IT.

Dear Theo,
I would love a copy of the will, my e-mail is kbcoughlin@sbcglobal.net
We have no "official proof" just what my grandfather kept as a family record. He wrote nothing of a wife named Sally for Ephraim, only a wife named Mary Burleigh. He stated they had seven children, five boys and two girls. Do you have a record of that? My grandfather had a clipping from the Granite Monthly which was a monthly magazine in NH, the Nov./Dec. 1917 issue had an article named Early Settlers of Northwood by John Mark Moses. John Moses was an aquaitance of my grandfathers. He described him as an "extremely intelligent, odd man". John Moses was from Northwood and apparently knew the town history very well. I don't have a copy of the article anymore but my grandfather copied the information down. I am going to see if I can research a copy of the article.

We decend from Ephraim as follows, John nathaniel, George B. then my grandfather Robert.
I have photos of my grandfather in front of the "homestead" in Northwood. You can see part of the house but not all of it. It would have been John's home, I'm unsure if it would have been passed down from his parents. I will make copies and send them to you this weekend. Thank you for all your help.
