Looking for more info on this railroad.

Photo attached is on a postcard backing, sent by my Grandfather, Carl Sandberg, to his brother Phillip dated 19 April 1907. I don't know how long he worked for this railroad as by December 1910 he was in Bakersfield per another postcard. In the next couple of years he gave up railroading & moved back to WI to farm. His 2 brothers, Phillip & William, were also railroadmen.

Photo was taken on 7 March 1907 per Carl's message at the Shawano, WI depot. Was this a special occasion. I enlarged the photo but was unable to clearly make out the faces so don't know if my grandfather is actually in the picture.

Saw your cross-post, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! If you can get hold of a copy of Railroad & Locomotive Historical Society Bulletin No. 116 (I believe from 1967), there is a history of the Wisconsin & Northern. According to a correspondent on a Yahoo Groups list, this line was absorbed into the Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault Ste Mariee (Soo Line).

Hope that helps!

Jim
