I am looking for information on the family and descendents of Manley Butler who lived in Ephratah in 1840-1855. He had a brother John who lived in Perth and he was the son of George Butler of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. A daughter Ruth married John Howson of Ephratah and may have another daughter Sarah who married George Bixby. I would appreciate any information that could be supplied.

As you indicated that one of your ancestors was John Howson from NY, I was wondering if those Howsons may have had a Sarah in their descendancy who may have been born abt. 1855 in England? If they did, do you have information on descendancy, etc.? Also does your information indicate that the family may have immigrated to US. If so, where?

In a death certificate for my grandfather, his mother is listed as Sarah (what appears to be HOWSON - the 3rd letter is a bit difficult to read) & father as Charles CLINE. In checking backward, I located an 1880 census with Charles & Sarah (both aged 25, which would place her birth year at about 1855)that indicated she was born in England. In an 1885 census, there were more children (2 of which are related to me, but my grandfather was born 2 years later, so he's not on it). Again, it indicates Sarah was born in England. Charles was born in NY.

Am having trouble going back beyond 1880 to locate her. Thanks!

I have a Sarah Howson, born in 1844 in Fulton Co. New York. She is a
daugther of John Howson and his wife Nancy.
John Howson was born in England in 1820. Could this be your Sarah? I do
not know what happened to her.

Thanks! My Sarah was born abt 1855, according to census records I located in 1880. It indicates she was born in England.
