I would very much like contact with anyone who has any information relating to the community of Springside (Palatka) Florida. My grandfather was supervisor at the Springside Mill, and lived in that area as did many of my family. Was there a newspaper for that area? The Palatka Daily News had very little that I could find. Thanks! Suz

My parents own the old Springside Grocery Store formerly owned by Joe Davis then his daughter Carolyn Davis. I know there was a Post Office in the store and in my great great grandfathers pension application his post office was at Springside. The mill you refer to what year are you talking about.. I know Mr Dixon owned at lumber Mill there. If I can I will try ot find more information for you.. you can contact me at moore409@bellsouth.net

I Don't know A whole lot right off hand.. Joe was Carolyn's Dad. Carolyn had A total of 4 children but I don't think she was ever married. I can't remember the oldests name. But I know she was raised by Carolyn's parents because she was so young. The other three were Betty Jo Allen, Ronald Allen and Terry Allen. I know from Stories that Betty used to tell me that there wasn't much family left.. However She passed away last year.. She had Arthritis very bad and from all themeds and stuff it took alot out of her.. We used to take care of Carolyn but Ronald took her in and she now lives with him. E-mail me directly and I'll try to get more info for you..

Hello...

Joe Davis was my grandfather, though he passed away in 1966, the year before I was born. Carolyn was my aunt. She is now also deceased.

hello...

my mothers family owned a big chunk of Springside. They are the Davis family and owned the little grocery there. I spent many days there growing up in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

wow...

well so neat running across this. My grandfather was Joe Davis and Carolyn was my aunt. I spent many days in that store when I was young. We lived in SC but would visit my grandmother, Loiuse, several times a year. My cousin Ronnie still ownes most of that down there now I hear.

hey..

I forgot to say that I also knew the Dixons. Use to walk down the dirt road to their house sometimes. I had a crush on their son Jessie when I was a pre-teen. Dixon ran and I think owned the lumber yard near there.
