Can anyone help me find a family who emmigrated to Canada to became farmers.
The name is FOSSHEIM.

Toralf Eliassen Fossheim born in Jølster, Norway Sept. 27 1875 and Anne Sofie Pedersdtr. b. in Naustdal (Førde) Sept. 22 1881
They married June 16 1903 in Naustdal.
Maybe Toralf died 1973 and Anne Sofie d. 1936 (in Canada)

I don't know when they first emigrated to Canada, but here is perhaps Toralf and his two sons Peder and Sverre in 1927 arrived from Bergen to Canada - my be they have been visiting their family or my be that's the first time going ?

The Master Surname Database (not online) (mostly burials in Alberta cemeteries) of the Alberta Genealogical Society lists these FOSSHEIM names and all in the Glenwood cemetery, Edson.

There was a Ludvig Fossheim who filed for a land grant in July 1917, a bit NE of Edson. Thoralf also applied for a land grant in that area.

Ludvig Fossheim, b 1888, enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in December 1917. He gave his home as Yates, which was a bit NE of Edson. Also note he named his birthplace & next of kin in Norway.

It’s my guess that Thoralf went to connect with that Ludvig.

Edson is located in Yellowhead County, AB. Here’s a map. These gents’ homesteads were located approximately where the line goes down between columns 17 & 16 and rows 54.
