I would be very glad if someone could help me find descendants of my mother-in-law's uncle.
He was Anton Othelius Jakobsen/Jackson/Jacobsen/Jacobson born 11 Dec 1885 in Verdal in Norway and lived in Butte both during the 1920 and the 1930 Censuses. He was first married to Elida Gurine (?) born 1882 in Norway, who died 1926. They had 5 boys:
1. Alfred Jacobsen, born 12 Apr 1910 somewhere in Utah, died 06 Feb 1980 in Silver Bow. He married Elma M. born 24 Nov 1901, died 19 Sep 1989 in Silver Bow. Lived at 2705 St. Anns Street in Butte.
2. Arnold Jacobsen, born 1913 somewhere in Oregon, died 09 Sep 1999 in Albany, Linn County in Oregon, married Lois. Had two daughters Joyce born 15 Sep 1937, and Arlene born 5 Jul 1938.
3. Carl Jacobsen, born 1915 somewhere in Oregon.
4. Harold Jacobsen, born 1917 somewhere in Montana, married Cora. They had two boys: Clifford born 10 May 1941 and Gary born 26 Jun 1942.
5. Edward, born 24 Jan 1920 somewhere in Montana, died in Jun 1987 in Meza, Maricopa County in Arizona.

I have come this far thanks to Margene Dionysiou.

When Anton emigrated in 1903 he used the surname Leklem.
As a widower I believe he married Julie Sofie Barstad born 1886 in Levanger, Norway.

Dear Egil: Anton O. Jacobsen died 16 August 1976 at the age of 90 in Butte, Silver Bow county, MT and listed as widowed in the Montana Death Index.
His first wife was Adelaide Jacobson ( in the USA the person is listed by their married name, not the maiden name). She was born 17 March 1882 in Norway. Her Father - Ole Swanson from Sweden and Mother - Anne Abilsdotter from Norway. She died 14 April 1926 from Uterine Septicemia (infection of the uterus) and was buried 17 April 1926 in Mount Moriah cemetary, Butte, MT. She was living at 2406 Farragut Ave., Butte, MT. At the time of death her age was listed as 42 years and 27 days. The spouse was listed as Antone Jacobson.
The 2nd wife was Julie Sofie Jacobsen, living at 2406 Farragut Ave., Butte, MT. She was born 1 Sept. 1886 in Norway and died 18 December 1945 from Breast Cancer in Butte, MT. She was buried 21 December 1945 in Mount Moriah cem., Butte, MT. Her Father - John Barstad of Norway, but the mother was not listed. The spouse was listed as Anton O. Jacobsen.
The information regarding the wives was taken from the death certificates as the Silver Bow county Clerk and Recorder office at the county courthouse. The spelling is exactly as written on the death certificates. I did not go to any marriage records and I did not look in the newspaper for any obituaries, so I do not know if there were any children. I do my own family research here in Butte and if I have time I am more than happy to help with any other information you want. Sincerely, Tony

How has your quest for information on Julie Sophie Barstad? She was my first cousin, thrice removed.

As opposed to the information in a previous reply, the father to Julie Sophie Barstad was actually Lars, not John, and her mother was Johanna Christiansdtr. I found her in the Levanger parish records. I also have more information on others in that family, if you are still interested.

yes I have found her birth, christening and confirmation in Levanger. John was her brother and she was going to him in Anaconda when she came over.
I am still looking for any descendants of her husband and his first wife.
