Welcome all Myler researchers

Nancy M(yler) Goodwin  (View posts) Posted: 25 Feb 2000 7:43AM GMT
Just thought I would post a welcome message to any Myler researchers that happen to pass this way! This list was started back in Sept. of 1999 as a place where those of us who are researching the surname MYLER could share our research, and perhaps keep others working on the surname from have to duplicate the research that we have already done, therefore saving everyone time!

No, we are not all connected, but there are a couple of connections that have been discovered through this Myler Message board.

So, visit us often and share your research!

Any of our e-mail addresses can be had by posting a message and asking for a specific address. FamilyHistory.com does not give out addresses. Sorry.

Larkins, and more Larkins...

I'm busy doing other research right now, but can't WAIT to get back to Effingham to have another "go" at finding the right Larkin!! One little tidbit, though: while looking through a commemorative booklet for Clay County, I spotted a picture of Larkin Craig Myler right in the front row of a bunch of Civil War Veterans who were attending a reunion in 1900! There was no text with the picture, so I had to tract that down, but it definitely WAS him. How surprising and wonderful to find!!
I just know that someday soon, we'll find something that brings all these guys together. By the way, I have a wonderful copy of the marriage certificate for Larkin SYLVESTER Myler and Lizzie Dugan and would be glad to pass it along to whomever. I got it when I thought (way back) that he might be the right Larkin. :( Anyway, who wants it???

I am researching John Myler born about 1776 in I think Virginia. Died in Morgan County Illinois. He was the father of John born 1810 in Tennessee and Elizabeth also born in Tennesse and of James born 1813 in Gallis, Ohio. James is my ancestor. Any information would be appreciated. Rebecca

Rebecca,

My Mylers did not arrive in the U.S. from County Wexford, Ireland, until late 1790 or early 1791. They lived in Baltimore for about 15 years, then moved to western PA, where the family lived until recent times. It has only been in the last two generations, since the mid-1900's, that any of my family left the Pittsburgh area, except for one branch that went to East Central Ohio around 1860 or so. At the moment I do not see a link - but will pass the information on to other Myler researchers.

Lizzie Dugan - I just gave the original wedding certificate to another researcher. I'll ask if she'll copy it for you. Lizzie was from Pensacola, Fl. L.S. was an attorney in Cumberland County. His parents were John Emberson, and Martha Jane. My ggrandfather was Larking CRAIG, so it's been confusing tracing the two of them. L.S. was 30 years younger, however.
