THOMAS DIES OF GUNSHOT WOUND
Jweey S. Thomas, a Pampa rancher, died Monday in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo from complications received in an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Thomas had been in critical condition in the hospital since Dec. 1 when he was admitted there after an incidentat his ranch home 10 miles southwest of Pampa. According to the Gray County Sheriff's office, Thomas apparently beat his wife Pat, one son, Robert, 14,two daughters, Joahn (Joan?), 10, and Jeannie, 11, with a claw hammer, then shot himself in the head with a .22 caliber pistol.
Thomas' wife, son, and two daughters were all hospitalized, but have been released and returned home. Mrs. Thomas and one of the daughters, Joahn (Joan?) ,underwent surgery at the Amarillo hospital.
Thomas was operated on the morning after the altercation.
Funeral services are pending at Duenkel Funeral Home.
Survivors other than his wife, son, and two daughters include: two other sons, Stephen and Gregory, of the home; his mother, Mrs. Eula Thomas; and one sister, Mrs. Yvonne Stroup, both of Pampa.
