could the surname be Mourant which is much more a Guernsey name ..spelling often goes amok on arriving in different countries

Hi Thanks for the reply. I am not sure about the spelling. There is a newspaper clipping I am going to look at, that may help, but that won't be till next week. Is there any Guernsey data bases? I looked on the web, there is a place on Jeresy, but appears there is nothing on line. You have to pay a visit. A long way from where I am. Thanks again G.J.
