Looking for a a link to Dabner W. Elliott who married Mary Jane Roland in Forsyth. Dabner died in 1915 and is buried at Crossroads Baptist CC with his wife. He had a son named Jeptha Elliott who married Virginia "Ginny" Jackson on 12-23-1888 in Forsyth County. I found record of their marriage at the courthouse.

Jeptha and Ginny had a daughter named Bertie who died in 1940 of cancer. She was married to Eugene Clarence Harrison who died in 1926 in an automobile accident. Eugene and Bertie are buried at Bethlehem Baptist CC in Cumming

I am researching this line and have some things and am still looking. we are kin to the George Elliott Family of Dawsonville. I need to go to the library and look up their line as I am sure it will fill in the pieces. The Dabner that went to Alabama is our Dabner's uncle. We are kin but our Dabner belongs to Rueben T. his brother. I hope this helps.

Ervin, Sr. is the son of Ross Anderson Elliott who married Alpharetta "Alpha" Bruce. Ross is the son of Isaac J. Elliott who married Millie Emily Smith. Isaac was the son of John Elliott, Sr. who married Elizabeth Agee (or so I beleive). Johns' son Ruben T. Elliott who married Mary Menervia Murphy is a brother to Issac. I beleive that John and Elizabeth also had a son named James J. Elliott, Sr. who married Nancy Smith. James, Sr.s' daughter Jane "Jayne" Elizabeth Elliott married John Paton Holbrook. Jane and John are my great great grandparents on my mothers side of my family. Ruben T. Elliott and Mary Menervia Mruphy are the parents of Dabner Wansley Elliott who married Mary Jane Rowland and Dabner and Mary are the parents of Jefferson Finley Elliott who married Virginia O. Yes I have found out that I am descended from Reuben Elliott. He had Brothers Issac and Dabner Wansley. I believe this Dabner Wansley is who my gggranfather was named after. This Dabner Wansley went to Ala. Hope to hear from you if you can tell me Rueben and the others Father's and Mother's names and their parents. I found a place that said his name was John.

I am trying to find out who the parents of John W Elliott are. He is the John Elliott who married Elizabeth Agee in Lumpkin County, GA, on October 30, 1814.

Correction: John W Elliott married Elizabeth Agee in Elbert County, GA, on October 14, 1814. (Lumpkin County, GA, was a typo)

I do not know who the parents of John W. Elliott are. I do show that John W. Elliott married Elizabeth Agee about 1818 but the county of marriage is unknown. I have Elizabeth Agee as the first wife of John W. Elliott. I have three son's issued during this first marriage. James J. Elliott, Sr. born about 1819 per the 1850 census of Keiths Dist. of Lumpkin Co., GA., then Isaac J. Elliott born Dec. 24, 1820 per both the 1850 census of Keiths Dist. of Lumpkin Co., Ga where he is listed as A. J. Elliott and per his gravestone at Crossroads Bapt. Ch. Cem. which shows his date of death as May 28, 1899 and his age at death as 76 years, 9 months, and 1 day old, then last was Reuben T. Elliott born about 1822. The second wife of John W. Elliott was Sarah Skaggs and they were married about 1823. Again the county of marriage is unknown. Since Lumpkin Co., Ga. was not created until 1832 and was under the control of either Hall or Habershame County until 1838, I suspect that the County of Marriage was not Lumpkin Co., GA., but I may be wrong if you have documentation that they were married in Lumpkin Co., Ga. October 30, 1814. I would be interested in knowing where you obtained this date of marriage. The information that I have about John W. Elliott is undocumented information. I have never found him and Elizabeth Agee listed in any census records. I have just been following the lead of other researchers who have claimed that this couple was from Lumpkin Co., GA. and I know that the three men that I have mentioned above were all from the Lumpkin-Dawson Co., GA area near what is today the Forsyth Co., Ga. and Dawson Co., Ga. line.

I will have to do some research in the Elbert Co., Ga. records. I had no idea that John W. Elliott and Elizabeth Agee were from Elbert Co., GA. Thanks.

I do not know if this will help you sort out the Elliotts of Forsyth Co Ga., but this is factual data from my files. Please use it as you see fit: James Jackson Elliott (1816- 1888) married Matilda Freeman in Habersham Co Ga. They are in the 1850 census there. By 1860, they are living near Crossroads in Forsyth Co. Ga. They have several children that I have in my files.
Two of their children married my great uncle and aunt. Rose Etta (1857-1895) married Amaziah Jamiah Smith(1854-1938). They had Martha L., Barney Eber, Hampton C., and Mollie. Rose Etta died at the birth of Mollie.
Barney F. (1860-1894) married Coloma Sarah Smith . They had only one child Claud E. Elliott. All the above are buried at Shiloah Methodist Church in Cherokee Co Ga.
Amaziah and Coloma were the children of my gg grandparents: Thomas Harrison and Harriet Elizabeth Smith of Yellow Creek Dawson Co. They were from South Carolina. Living next door to Amaziah and Rose Etta in Forsyth Co Ga were my great grandparents: (older brother to Amaziah,) William Joseph Smith and Mary Gilstrap Smith. Mary was the daughter of Charles Asberry Gilstrap and granddaughter of William M. Gilstrap and Delilah Durham from Pickens Co SC to Forsyth Co Ga before 1860.
