Does anyone know if the court records for the trial of Abe Rabon Jr, Duke and Abrham Rabon still exist. They were tried some time in the early 1850's for the murder of a cousin. I would appreciate any help. Thanks Wanda

Wanda, my grandfather, told that story to us as children, and one day I opened the Horry Independent and there it was. I thought it just an old tale, pasted down through the family, until that day. I tried to look up some information on it, and I found out some things, that only led me to more confusion. Maybe, you can put some of that to rest. I believe, if there are any records, they would be in Archives in Columbia. I think, that is what Ms. Annette Reeser, told me.

We are interested in the Rabon man who was killed by two of his cousins and his uncle.

1. What was the slain man's full name.

2. Who was his wife?

3. If married, did they have a girl named Mary W.

4. What happened to her?

We have come up with the following..... His wife was Olil (Olive) Gasque. Olif"s second husband was Paul W. Mishoe. Olif's third husband was Thomas Hucks. She is buried at Cool Springs Methodist Church cemetary.

Mary W. Rabon had a half sister named Indiana Olive Mishoe who married Haquewood Ichabud "Bud" Martin.

He was my grandfather. My brother recalls our parents talking our Aunt Mary. Also, my cousin in Atlanta recalls her father saying just who she was.

If you can possibly confirm this please let us know. We have a picture of Indiana circ 1900. Thank you in advance.

shellykinlaw,

It's been a long time, so I don't know if you are still out there, but I am also interested in the newspaper clipping and any other information you might have in regard to Abraham Rabon.

Respectfully,
Kathy J. Rabon

wanda123,

I was just checking to see if you were ever able to obtain the court records for the Abraham Rabon trial.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I have these records and will get them scanned this week. I visited the Archives here in Columbia and obtained the Coroners Reports book.
There are several mishaps with the Rabon family :)
