Galatas Family

Rachel Galatas brennan  (View posts) Posted: 27 Jul 2001 3:57AM GMT
I am Rachel Galatas Brennan. I am trying to find the names of my ancestors. My great grandfather's name was Theodore Galatas, Sr. he married Aspazie Deslatte in the early 40s. I have family mainly in Garyville and Reserve La, but I know that my family settled in Madisonville when they first arrived to the states. There is also a family cemetary in Madisonville. If anyone has any information, please contact me at the above email address. Thanks!!

Rachel,
You might contact Karne Siverson who is also researching the Galatas family of St. Tammany. She is also connected to the Faciane, Pena, and Pichon Families. She may have something to help you, if you haven't already contacted her.
her email is : RoryandKaren@cs.com

Good Luck!

Galatas is a name that sticks out in my memory. All of my family was from Covington, My grandmother was Rebecca Strain Pechon grand daughter of William Strain. The Galatas' were from Madisonville and in the 1880 had a business there. It was Galatas and Son. I have some books on St. Tammany Parish.

Rachel, I am just getting started with my genealogy search, but when I pulled up my grandmother's name, your post showed up. My grandmother on my mother's side was Aspazie Delatte and my grandfather was Theodore Galatas and I have been to the family graveyard in Madisonville, in fact my mother and father still go there to cut the grass. I grew up near Garyville and went to High School in Reserve. I don't have much information, but I am also interested in learning more about our lineage, so let me know if I can help.

The Faciane's are we only Spanish, or are we French and Spanish? I've always wanted to know about my ancestry. We have such a large family. Doesn't anyone know about the Silvas? I understand that to be my grandmother's maiden name. She was married to my grandfather Anthony Emele Faciane her name was Berta Faciane.
