I have information for you. I am David's daughter, although not the David you are looking for. There were two of them. I am David (Davey) and Ethel's daughter (his mother was Gisella, father Charles). I am getting a Kiken family reunion together this May. If you are descended from a Kiken, you are invited! Please contact me ASAP. Dianne

Good morning!
I am Hilary Derby, a professional genealogist now living in Virginia. I was married to Mark Evan (Moishe Isur) KIKEN, Ph.D of Denver, CO for eight years and did a pedigree for him. His father is Jonas (Yonah) Kiken, m. to Thelma(Tova) Coopersmith (deceased). Jonas' father was Morris (Moyshe) Kiken, m. to Fanny (Fay) Foreman. Morris Kiken's father was Yonah (Yonia) Kiken m. to Annie Weisberg, etc.

Your David Dave (Dawid) KIKEN was a son of Yonah (Yoina) KIKEN.

I haven't worked on this family for six years but will be happy to share what I have with you.

Hilary G. Derby, Ph.D.

Hello Dr. Derby,

Thank you for the reply; this seems to be the week of the Kiken's! I posted this message on another thread in answer to dhilborn1's message on the Kiken family reunion:

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. My father completed the Y-46 marker test here at Ancestry.com. When I put Dad's values in at Y-search, the name of Kiken came back as an exact match for 12 markers; so, I posted here. Since that time, I have put his markers in at Sorenson.org, and we have done additional autosomal testing. I can now conclude that we are very distant relatives--@ 40 generations ago in Russia/Ukraine.

Good luck with the reunion, and thank you again for the reply.

Pamela Rowe

Additionally: My father's ancestor's settled in Hudson County, New Jersey after emigration to the USA; so, at first, I believed our connection to your Kiken line was closer than it turned out to be.

Best regards,
Pamela

Sorry I can't help you. Mark's father, Jonas Kiken was born 1926 in Bronx, NYC, New York, USA. Jonas' father, Morris (Moyshe) KIKEN was born 1899 in Scynipischuck, Stryy, Austria, Ukraine and died 1946 in Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey. Morris' father was Yonah Yoina KIKEN and 2nd wife Annie WEISBERG. Yonah was married 1st to Dora (Dina)and they had four children, including a David Kiken born 1892 and died Oct 1975.

An interesting family, to say the least. Davis was "a liquor dealer.Yonah had a brother Brother Isur who was a partner in a horse ranch in Stryy, Austria, Ukraine. Interesting fact that they were Jewish yet owned land and ranch. The horses were lipizzaner stallions and this fit in with some of the more recent generations handling horses in the NY police Dept. And then there is the connection to the General Kiken, the Kiken Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, the downfall of Czar Peter the Great's son due to his tutor.

Ah well, sorry I couldn't help! Have a good evening!
Hilary

Hilary,
How wonderful of you to reply to me! So very happy to have found you! Actually, I'm the daughter of David Kiken, who was a child of Charles and Gisella Kiken, step-brother of David (Dawid) Kiken, and husband to Ethel (nee Bell). My brother is Michael Kiken, M.D.

I look forward to talking with you. The information you've provided so far is extraodinary. I never had Yonah's wife's name. Now, is this the same person as Yoina the horse whisperer in Austria/Ukraine? If so, is Annie Weisberg Yoina's second wife (the 16 or 17 year old) who had six children? It's my info that Yoina's first wife was Deena, from whom I'm descended.

I'm going to be preparing a booklet of the Kiken family history so the family has some feeling of connectedness. I never had children, and I'm hoping that this booklet will be my contribution to the Kiken family line.

Your input is so very much appreciated! My cell number is 571-426-5888 and my email is DLHilborn@comcast.net.

Thank you...looking forward to talking with you. (Truth is, I can hardly wait!) Again, thank you.

Best always,

Dianne

Pamela,

Would you please contact me, Dianne Hilborn, regarding Yoina (Yonah) Kiken. My family reunion is in two weeks and I am interested in any facts you may have about him. Also, if you are related in some way to Yoina, then are we related, too? If so, you need to know about the Reunion and the history/geneological book I am putting together. Time is of the essence. Thank you very much.

Pamela,

Do you have any information about the Kikens in the Ukraine? I am putting together a Kiken family reunion on July 30, 2011 and would be very interested in how we would be related. Thank you.
