A family story states that Albert E. Farley and son were killed in a sawmill explosion in the Kiamichi mountains in the early 1900's in Oklahoma. These mountains are located in southeast Oklahoma. No further details of this story are currently known. I am seeking any further info or clues.
Thank you

...Larry, there were several sawmill explosions in the arly 1900's over in the Kiamichi area. If you would by chance have an approximate year, that would help to track down the right article. How about the sons name too? I'd love to help you but this is just kind of vague since there were so many during that timeframe. Post some more info and I will see if I can track down an article for you. Until then, have an awesome day...

Thank you for your help on this interesting mystery.
Albert E. Farley's son may have been named Eugene, but his name is almost unreadable in the only census he could be found in. (I am away from home and my census info right now.) The grandson of Albert Farley is trying his best to recall this story told by his father who died about 1962, but unfortunately the story is very vague, but the accident may have occured about 1905-1920. That is probably not much help. I will recontact the grandson and see if there is some other clue or details he recalls.

I just got in touch with the grandson and he futher explains that based on his father's age at the time, the sawmill explosion would have taken place in 1909. Unfortunately, we cannot improve on clarifying the location of the accident which is the Kiamichi Mts. of Oklahoma.

...Larry, I will see what I can find for you for the year of 1909. Hopefully I will be able to pull up a story or something along those lines for you. I also try and place your ancestors surname in the "wildcard" box. I'll get back to you soon...

I was curious what you may have found regarding the "sawmill explosion search." If you've had no luck, maybe you could advise me about the areas or newspapers that your search has covered, thereby revealing counties or areas yet to be looked into.
Thanks,

Hi:

I've been trying to find information about a sawmill boiler explosion in Oklahoma that took the life of my great-uncle. His name was Eddy Lee Owens. This was recorded in the Family Bible. It states: "Eddy Lee Owens was killed by the explosion of a boiler at Chas. Delk Mill on May, the 23, 1898." He was born on July 19, 1884.
If anyone knows of this death will you please share your information with me? I would sincerely appreciate it.

Thank you,

Patricia

...Larry, I wanted to touch base with ya to let ya know that I have not given up on locating an article for you, with your kin's name in it.

However so far, I have not been successful. I search a little more each time I have access to the archives. I have so many articles saved now, that I could probably put a pretty good book together...smile.

I will post again & let ya know whether I locate anything or not. Don't give up just yet...
