I am looking for information on Charles Stewart, father of Jeremiah C. Stewart. Jeremiah was born in Muscogee Co., GA on 11 Jan. 1810, and was in the Muscogee Co., cencus (City of Columbus) in 1850. By 1860, he had relocated to Bibb Co., AL, where he died. Jeremiah married Nancy McGinty (b. 1 Oct 1820) , daughter of Meshach(b. c1793) and ?. Meshach was in Jones Co., in the 1830 cencus and Putnum Co., in 1840. I have no greater leads on Charles Stewart than the information on his son Jeremiah.

To Eddie Randolph:
Did you ever find any information on the correct Charles Stewart? I am a direct descendent of Jeremiah Cosden and Nancy McGinty Stewart through their son, Jeremiah Thomas Stewart. The only information I can add is that he was married to a Martha Greer. They died in Jones, Georgia in 1837. Jeremaih Cosden was an only child. I do have some information on Nancy McGinty if you are interested.

I have information from the Clan Stewart Magazine, Tome I, (Oct, 1967) that lists 10 children Charles Stewart and Martha Greer. One of which was George Jefferson Stewart who moved to the same area of Bibb County, AL as did Jeremiah Cosden. Jeremiah Cosden was the oldest.

I would love any information that you might have on Nancy McGinty and her family.

I am a decendant of Jeremiah Cosden Stewart via Charles Wesley Stewart

I am a desendant of George Washington Stewart(July 23,1873-Jan.15,1937) & Myrtle Ann Culbreath Stewart(July 26, 1879-Feb. 15, 1925). George & Myrtle had a daughter named Ann Rachel who was my grandmother.I have been trying to find out which one was in the Civil War. According to some notes left to my Grandmother Jeremiah Thomas Stewart was in the Civil War.Would any of you have information or records showing he was in the Civil War?
