My sister married into the Raby family of Jackson Co., NC and a number of years ago, I did research on that family for her.
I don't have copies of all of it, but I believe this is your family in the 1880 census.

1880 Jackson Co., NC

RABY, Sarah E., 38, widow, b. NC
RABY, Margaret, dau, 12, b. NC
RABY, Robert C., son, 11, b. NC
RABY, John B., son, 9, b. NC
RABY, Andrew B., son, 7, b. NC
RABY, George J., son, 3, b. NC
RABY, James M., son, 1, b. NC
RABY, Samuel B., son, 4, b. NC

J. B. Raby Jr., (26) married Lillie Bradburn (16) on 8 Nov 1896, Qualla Township, Jackson Co., NC.

I do census research for a fee as I live just a mile from a branch of the National Archives. If interested, please e-mail me at <JacknOmie@aol.com> for particulars.

John Burton RABY, born 28 February 1870, died 19 August 1950 in Gaston Co., NC. He is buried at Gaston Memorial Park, Gaston Co. Lillie is not there. Several of his children are also buried there. While I'm on the subject of Bradburns, does anyone know where Lillie's brother Stephen Henry Bradburn died? He died 18 April 1967, but does not have a death certificate in North Carolina. He was married to Addie Elizabeth Freeman. They are buried at Thomas Memorial Cemetery, Jackson Co., NC, along with Lillie's and Stephen's parents, John Franklin and Laura Teague Bradburn. The Bradburns and the Teagues are descendants of Robert and Rachel Lord Paine, and I am completing a book on their descendants. John Payne

Does anyone have a birth or census record showing Lillie as a child of John Bradburn and Laura Teague?

thank you for your reply.
This shows the children starting with the second oldest daughter, Leekie, being 17 in 1900. Lilly would have been 20 and married to John B. Raby (m.11-8-1896 at Qualla Ts.) and she is not listed in her parents' household.

I've found John and Laura married in the 1880 census in their own household. But no children. We have Lillie born 7DEC1880. I'm guessing that the census was done prior to winter.

I really need some 'proof' that she was John and Laura's daughter.

There's so little of the 1890 census and no Bradburns in NC are listed.

I have and have sold all the copies. I am getting to do a reprint which should take no more than a couple of months. If interested, email me at johnthepayne@yahoo.com. Thanks.
