One branch of my family tree lived in Foldahl township from 1884 to 1894. Carl A. Giltvet and wife Helga arrived in Foldahl in 1884 after spending three years in Eau Claire county of Wisconsin. They homesteaded property described as "the NE quarter of section 34 in Township 156N and Range 46W at the 5th prime meridian". Carl died 02 May 1890 of pneumonia on their property, but I do not know where he is burried. Does anyone know of the names of Norwegian churches at the time (1890) where I might look to find cemetery records? Any assistance or guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Thad, I have the Marshall County History book and there is a history on Carl and Helga (Kristiansen) Gilthvedt. Carl died in 1889 and is buried in Foldahl Cemetery and Helga died 16 Nov 1925 and is buried in Northwood Church Cemetery. I have a partial list of burials at Foldahl "Nyed" Cemetery and will send you information on its location.
