Chandler
Cox YONGE was born in Fernandina, FL 3 Oct 1818. His family was of
English extraction and an uncle on his father's side was solicitor for the King of
England during the British occupation of
Florida. Chandler was educated at the University of
Georgia and studied law at
Quincy, FL. He was first at St. Joseph, then Marianna until 1859 when he came to Pensacola. He was district attorney for
Florida under the Confederacy and in 1863 was appointed as a Major in the Quartermaster's Dept. of the Confederacy. After the war, he practiced law in Pensacola. He was a member of
Christ Church. Chandler died 17 Feb 1889 at age 71.
