We are looking for descendants of

William Horrocks (Wigan, Lancashire, b About 1815 m Ellen Elzabeth Storey b About 1817 at St John's Pemberton 1842).

Children emigrated to the US (primarily Fayette County West Virginia) around 1873. Following are the children we have:

Matthew Horrocks, born 1847 in England, married on 9/13/1876 in Kanawha, WV to Mary E Pettry born 1859, 8 children: Alice, E, William, Mary, Robert Joseph, Mitchell, Sarah and Victoria

John Horrocks, born 1852 in England, d 1919 in Nutall, WV, married on 3/20/1871 at Church of St George to Elizabeth Kenyon, b 1851, d 1923, par Joseph Kenyon and Margaret Barker. 12 children: William (born in England), Ellen, Mary, John, Elizabeth, Thomas, Joseph, James, Margaret, Charles, Robert and Violet

William H Horrocks, born 1857 in England, d 1929 at Edmond, WV, married Mary Elizabeth Small (1863-1925) on 6/21/1882 in Fayette County WV. Parents of Mary Elizabeth were John Small and Eliza Ferkins (both born in England) 6 children: John W, Caleb, Robert, Charles, Elizabeth and Margaret.

We have a daughter, Eleanor Horrocks born about 1860 in England and married to John William Small b 1862 (brother of Mary Elizabeth above).

We believe (as family lore has it) that there was a fourth brother who emigrated also, but who continued further west and was never heard from again....would love to have any info whatsoever on him.

John and Matthew were coal miners, William was a storekeeper.

We will be happy to share our rather extensive info with you -- a number of us are working on this family.

Please e-mail me directly -- would love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Hi Charlene,

I am wondering if our lines connect. With the Horrocks there are so many common names I am not sure. Here is a link to my site that shows what I have.

http://famgen.casawood.com/familygroup.php?familyID=F137&...

If you see a link I would be very anxious to share information. The site is interactive so it would be easy to share from there.

Thank you and I hope to hear from you.

Gary --

Don't see a connection as yet -- 'course there may be one in the 18th century, but I've not gotten there. If I eventually find a hookup, I'll let you know

Best wishes

Charlene

Surnames: Horrocks/Holliday
Hi, My name is Barbara Horrocks Bekooy and I am just starting my research into my family history. My father was James William Horrocks and my mother was Mary Ernestine Holliday Strunk both of Lansing, West Virginia. Grandfather and Grandmother (my father's side) were James Horrocks and Sarah Gertrude Atkinson both of Lansing, WV. Grandparents on my Mother's side were Ernest Huddleston Holliday and Hester Ellen Gill both of Lookout WV. Believe that my ancestors from England were John Horrocks and Elizabeth Kenyon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Barbara

Hi Barbara --

You appear to be a cousin of my husband -- his gr-grandparents were, indeed, John and Elizabeth Kenyon Horrocks and his grandparents were James and Sarah Gertrude Atkinson Horrocks.

You can e-mail me privately, if you wish. (charlenecch@aol.com)

Hi Charlene,

I have sent you two previously e-mails but don't know if they have made it through the system as my e-mail was not working for a few days due to a problem with the server provider. Please e-mail me at barbara.bekooy@ziggo.nl I have made copies of some family photos for you and need an address to mail.

Thanks,
Barbara
