I have some information I'm attempting to confirm and hope someone can help. Does anyone know of an old cemetery in the area called Burkey or the Burkey Cemetery? It was supposed to have been closed and all the folks buried there were reinterred in Golva. My problem is I can find no reference to a town, township, or settlement referred to as Burkey either in Golden Valley or Slope counties except in this one word-of-mouth case, which is no longer able to be confirmed.

Are you still interested in information about Burkey and its cemetery?? I grew up one mile from where Burkey used to be.

Burkey Cemetery was located south and east of Golva, ND. I can't confirm the burials being moved tho.

Thank you, I suppose its possible that just the individual in question was reinterred in Golva and the Burkey Cemetery is still intact.

A book was just published with information on the Golva cemetery and Burkey cemetery. I may be able to find the information you are looking for.
