I read with interest the bio of Mrs. Amanda Ellen Buckingham. I am a KLINGENSMITH researcher, working to complile a relational data base of all Klingensmiths in the US to 1900 - a foolhardy enterprise at best. Was wondering if you have any more data/particulars on Herbert Lee KLINGENSMITH, who md. Marjory Buckingham of Sutter Co., CA?
Would appreciate any information about him.
Thank you.

My great-grandmother was Dora Wortell, who was married to Dora Levine. Since Wortell is such an unusual name, I suspect we may be related. Dora and Morris apparently went to England about 1874 and then to the US around 1878 or 1879, first to New York and then to Michigan City, Indiana. I am trying to find out where they were from originally. Can you shed any light on this? Thanks!

My great grandfather was Charles...Dannenberg, who lived in Sutter County, CA. His son, Joseph Samuel was married to Anna Buckingham, 20 Apr 1904, and later married to Amanda Sims, 17 Mar 1915. A family story says that in May of 1916, his body was found on a sandbar in the Sacramento River. The family believes that his wife killed him. That's all the information we have on him. He was the child of Charle' first marriage, and we have no record of who his mother was.

I'm doing a little genealogy research on my ancestors. I saw a posting on Rootsweb, where you talked about your great-grandmother Dora Wartell. I know that my grandmother Jennie Katz (married: Ravitch) was related to her (I believe that Dora was Jennie's aunt), but I'm having a bit of a hard time finding evidence. My mother remembers seeing this Indiana clan often during her childhood, but her memory is vague about exactly how her mother was related. Also, I noticed in the cemetery listing, that Dora's maiden name was listed as Potelski, but her obituary said Wartell. I'm assuming that the obituary is right.
