I'm interested in any DIAMANTSTEIN families from Salaj county, especially the town of Crasna circa 1840's-1940's.

Surnames: Dimentstein, Schwartz
My paternal ggrandparents are Barnett(Barney) and Rachel Spector Dimentstein of Brooklyn, NY. I have heard that when the relatives reached the USA they were all given different last names. Dimentstein, Diamond, Diamondstein, Dimenstein, etc. We don't know when they came just that is was before 1902. Any connection?

We are a family that first began with Joszef Diamantstein and Miriam Diamantstein that after the Second World War came to Brazil looking for shelter.
We would like to have more information about any Diamantstein that you may know or even be. We'd be very glad for your help.

Yours,
Bernardo Diamantstein

Hi! What town did your DIAMANTSTEIN ancestors come from? I found a birth record for:
Jolan Diamantstein born 15 Jun 1885 (late regis. in '89). He was born in Kraszna/Crasna, his father was David and his mother was Czili Gluck. I found him because I was looking for any GLUCKs from Crasna and the surrounding towns. Then there was a Jocheved Klein born 28 Nov 1868 in Poosa/Pausa, his father was Salamon and his mother was Mari Diamantstein and another son by this couple was Nathan born 21 Feb 1891 in Poosa/Pausa and Sali in 1868.

I am also related to a Barney diamondstein or dimenstein married to minnie and they were from New York. There has been a lot of confusion about the name. Barney died around age 50 and minnie remarried. I was told we are from prussia.

My great-grandfather left Romania prior to WWII. His name was Bayla Diamantstein. My spelling of his first name may not be correct. He immigrated to New York, and married Elvira Goldberger from Hungary.
