I am related to the Altizer family from Southwest Virginia, especially Floyd and Montgomery counties. I would love to know about the Texas branch of our family. Please fill me in. Thanks.

My great-great-grandmother Lillie Belle was an Altizer from Tazewell, VA.; she was born there in 1863, but was in San Saba County by 1885, when she married George Russell Lane. Her great-grandfather was Emera Altizer, who died in Montgomery Co. in 1819.

I descend from David Riley Altizer and Louisa Jane Stevenson. After the War Between the States, they moved to Kentucky. In the 1870's, they moved to Texas along with son-inlaw William Maguire White and daughter Mary Evelyn Altizer Whitt and father and mother of William Maguire Whitt, John Floyd Whitt and Elizabeth Bruster Whitt.
John Floyd Whitt and wife Elizabeth...William Maguire Whitt and wife Mary Evelyn are buried in the Kuykendall Cemetery at Cherokee, San Saba Co., Texas. David Riley Altoizer and Louisa Jane are buried in the Hanna Cemetery at Cherokee, San Saba Co., Texas I have photos of these persons and many of their descendants.

I am interested in Sophia Altizer, dau of Jonas and Sally Ratcliffe also first wife of David Leon Alley. They were parents of Julia Ann Marinda Alley, my great grandnother. This was before David Leon married her cousin Evalina Altizer. Sophia died shortly after Charlotte was born, I have no pictures of any of them., just Warner Gaskill Altizer and his wife, my grandmother Minnie Olive Barnes.

I descend from Emema And Mary Pitzer, and also from Emera and Mary Miller. John Altizer's descendant George W. Altizer married my great grandmother Julia Ann Marinda Alley, a descendant of Sophia Altizer Alley, dau of Jonas
and Sally Ratcliffe Altizer. John was from Mary Pitzer and Jonas was from Mary Miller, both Marys were wives of Emera Altizer. All of ny family are from Virginia.

I hope you got the info I sent earlier this AM. If not, I find that Lillie Belle was married to a William Cauthorn. She was the daughter to Tom Altizer and Sara Jan Gates. Her Texas death certificate reads..."Willie Bell Cauthorn". She died 31 Jul 1966 in Menard Co., Texas. She is buried in the Rest Haven Cemetery - probably in Manard, Texas.I hope this helps. Jim

My great-grandmother was Katie Marie Lane (1897-1989, married to William Garland Adams) of Richland Springs, San Saba Co. in Texas. Her mother was Lillie Belle Altizer (1863-1929, married to George Russell Lane) who was one of David Riley Altizer's daughters. I would love to see any photos you might have of this group, and will be happy to offer any help I can. My aunt and many others from my mother's family still live in San Saba county, and I visit a few times a year, if you don't have access to that area.
