Helynge Street Aston - does it exist
I have a birth certificate for 1874 showing place of birth as Marmon Place, Helynge Street, Aston. But when I try to find that place on the 1871 census I keep drawing a blank. The nearest I can get is Heneage Street, Aston. Are they the same locations and the certificate has a transcription error. Even then I can't find a record of Marmon Place. Can anyone help?

Re: Helynge Street Aston - does it exist
What is the name of the family you are looking for? If you let me know I may be able to sort out the address for you as they should hopefully be in the same location on either the 1871 or 1881 census

Re: Helynge Street Aston - does it exist
I think it may be Marrion Place,Kelynge Street,Aston. I can't put my hand on my old map of that area as it doesn't exist anymore but it was near to Cattell Road, Bordesley. Near the Birmingham City football Ground. I will look later for the map & come back to you

Re: Helynge Street Aston - does it exist
according to search on internet Kelynge Street is now called Tilton Road.Name changed in the late 1800's. This goes from Cattell Road to Garrison Lane then there is a separate part attached to Venetia Road. Hope this helps

Re: Helynge Street Aston - does it exist
That is extremely kind of you Sue. The family name is Burton. Head of the household should be Henry (Charles) Burton born in Herefordshire (Ledbury) 1851. His occupation could be mason or bricklayer. His wife is Elizabeth, north in Worcester around 1852. They may not have any children. They did move around between Worc and Birmingham a few times but I have a child born in what the birth certificate documented as Helynge Street, in 1874..

Re: Helynge Street Aston - does it exist
You will see from my further posts last night that Kelynge Street was renamed Tilton Road & that it runs from Cattell Road to Garrison Lane. I have found Henry & Elizabeth living with his brother Thomas & his wife Mary Ann at 1 back of 138 Cattell Road on the 1871 census RG10/3141 folio 10 page 15. Henry is down as 19. Henry is a bricklayer & Thomas is a bricklayers labourer. bfn Sue
