I found the following. Not sure if it is what you are looking for. No one was murdered but they did have a "duel" with shotguns and it took place in 1965.

Two Men Wounded in
Duel With Shotguns

WAREHAM, (AP)-Two Wareham
men were wounded early
today in what police said was
a duel with shotguns after a
night of drinking.
Robert Cardoza, 21, and
Early Fowler, 22, were taken
to Tobey hospital, suffering
shotgun wounds and their conditions
were listed as fair.
Police Chief Frederick Besse
said the pair went to a remote
field off Route 28 and, in the
light of car headlights, paced
off a short distance and fired
at each other. He said one used
a 16 gauge automatic and the
other a 12 gauge shot gun.
Fowler sustained wounds in
the chest and both arms. He was
brought to the hospital by Robert
Seeley, who told police of
the duel.
Cardoza was shot in both legs
and was found crawling toward
the highway when police went to
the scene.

The newspaper to search would be the Old Colony Memorial (published in Plymouth).
