Hello, I am researching in the Dover, Kent, England area for any information on James Court and Susan Graham. They were married in 1870 in Dover, Susan d: in 1881 and James d: 1912. They had two daughters and one son. The two daughters emigrated to Canada in 1913 and the son was missing in World War One.

I have been unsuccessful in finding birth information on James. According to the limited records I have, he was born in Sandwich, England, spent his early years in the Eastry Union Workhouse and married when he was 30 years old.

Any information would be most appreciated.

I have a James Court in my line from around the time as your James. I do not have much info on him at all, I believe he estranged himself from the family??

My James was born to an Alfred & Emma Court (not sure on their first names, as sometimes people had middle names and used them, so I am not sure if those are given or middle names) Alfred & Emma also had a son named John William, called Will or Willie. This Willie came to the US around 1900 maybe. James married? and had at least these children Gloria, Grace & James.

I'm sorry, but the names don't ring a bell, except of course for James. You don't say the area they lived in. I did see a James J. Court in the USCensus for NY with an American born wife and children.

They lived in or around a place called Redditch, not to sure, but John William did immigrate to NY... please send me the info on the James in the census if you still have it. TX!

Our COURT ancestor came from the same area, though admittedly a little earlier.

Our 4th gg mother was ELIZABETH COURT who was born [date unknown] in Nonnington. She married GEORGE DEVERSON at Woodnesborough in 1754 and the only known child is William born in 1770, though we suspect he was by no means their eldest.

I am sorry that it is not much, but nevertheless it does indicate that there could be a strong locality influence. If you have any earlier data, I would love to see it.

Hi, I have a James Court(dob 1831, census 1841) in my family tree brother of Richard who is my grt/grt/grandfather. They were from Folkestone Kent. Is this the same James as you have?
