I’m trying to find information about an airfield established during World War II in the Buca Bay area of Fiji. Oral history has it built on the plantation owned by William Fisher. William Fisher married Margaret Emma St. Julian. Their firt son was also William Fisher. Even though NZ was responsible for the defence of Fiji I understand that the airfield was established by the US. Can anyone help?

Have you tried contacting the Fiji Museum?

They have posted photos on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/fijimuseum) from WWII - the Bilo Gun Site near Suva. I'm sure they'll have information for the site in Buca.

Their email address as listed on their website is fijimuseum@kidanet.net.fj or you can make a quiry online http://www.fijimuseum.org.fj/contact_generalenquiry.html

Regards,
Dulcie
