I am looking for Robert Dickson born Edinburgh Scotland about 1822. On son Adam Dickson ( born Spring Creek Cowra)birth certificate Robert married Christina McDonald 1850 Parramatta. No listing in NSW BDM. Christina was also born Edinburgh Scotland 1818. They had a daughter Margaret Jessie Dickson with no BDM record but also born Cowra area about 1858. Margaret was also known as Jessie & she died in Forbes NSW 26/12/1917 as Jessie Hynds. Jessie married Allen Alfred Hynds in Carcoar 1875

Is this the birth of a sibling to Adam?

If this is your Christina Dickson the death certificate might give you more information.
If Christina is b. about 1818 and m. 1850 she is rather older than usual for first marriage. I wonder if there is an earlier marriage?

Hi,
Maybe one of these is Robert's death:
6703/1873 DIXON ROBERT UNKNOWN UNKNOWN RYDE 2993/1873 DIXON ROBERT J ROBERT G MARY E ARMIDALE
As he is deceased by mid 1875, as per the notice in the SMH, Saturday 3 July 1875, where Christina Dickson is claiming 84 acres, Portion 61, Parish of Coota, County of Bathurst.

Hi Mary, Thanks for your help. From your info I found out the Parish of Coota is actually Cowra. I have found a Family list Greville 1872 Cowra that lists Robert Dickson Farmer Lachlan River Cowra. I will start to get more certificates & hope they are the ones I want. I will let you know if I find out more

Hi Linda,
You can rule this death out as being your Robert DICKSON.
2993/1873 DIXON ROBERT J ROBERT G MARY E ARMIDALE
He, died as an infant, as did his two older siblings. Their births at Armidale, are on BDM's.

Hi Linda,
If the certificates still do not identify when Robert DICKSON died, then you can apply online, to NSW State Records, for the intestate estate case papers, for him. Details previously posted to you. The charge is:
A $15.00 Admin fee + postage also applies.
This paperwork, should state where and when he died.

ADDED: NRS 13538, Curator of Intestate Estate: Case Papers, 1821-1913. The Case Papers provide details such as: money owed by the deceased, creditors and petitions from the Curator of Intestates to the Supreme Court relating to the administration of the estate, affidavits of death newspaper cuttings and in certain cases personal correspondence. Files may also provide information that relates to the nature and locality of death or the occupation of the deceased. The index records the name of deceased, alias (if any), district, date of order, file number and item number.

Thank you so much for all your help. I might order the intestate papers & see what I get. I have ordered this for another on my tree & it was about 2 inches thick & I got a lot from it Linda

Hi Linda I have been doing research on the Ellis family of Cowra and one, Christina Dixon was the first wife of John ellis, but no marriage certificate. She died c 1903 having had nine children. He then married Minnie Timmins. While it is not necessary to actually know the information for Christina - whom I assume was Christina born to Robert and Christina 1852 - V1852840 70/1852. If you do get that information I would be pleased if you could share it with me at iapring@snoopacowra.com Cheers Annette
