Hi, How fortunate you are to have a photograph -if you believe this is your birth father.

Question: Do you have a copy of your adoption papers?
Do you have a copy of your Original Birth Registration / Long form Birth Certificate.?
Your mother may have named the father of the baby?

Do you think that the first letter could be a 'Z'?
Francesco Zorzi?

There is at least one person by that name in Italy that comes up in a google search.

Good luck.

I saw your post and wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to track down the siblings of your Mother. If there were brothers or sisters they might know about the events surrounding the marriage of your Mother and your birth. I know it is a long shot but it is possible that the story was passed down in some way from your Mother's siblings to their children. I also wonder if getting your adoption records might shed some light on why you were given up for adoption. If your Mother's parents or her husband's parents were still alive they might have some knowledge. Too bad the writing isn't clear for the picture but maybe somebody may recognize his face or find it in an old high school year book if he was from Winnipeg. I wish you luck.

In my 1954 Henderson's Directory for Winnipeg there is a listing for a Francesco Kroeis who is employed by Canada Packers and living at 295 McAdam with his wife Marian/Marianne. She is a practical nurse at General Hospital. I am not saying this has anything to do with your story but thought you might like to know about it.

If you do find that the name I gave you from your picture is correct then go to the Winnipeg Free Press Newspaper at www.passagesmb.com and you will find his obituary.

If you knew what high school he went to you might be able to find a year book in the school library or the resource room after contacting the high school first. The question is did he go to high school here in Winnipeg or some other town in Manitoba? If that was his senior class picture what year might that have been? If he lived in Winnipeg he would be listed in the Henderson's Directories from the time he turned 18. Hard to search without a surname though. Did you get any other clues for him like where was he living, what were his parent's names, where did he work? I don't think there is any central depository in Winnipeg that holds all of the school yearbooks. I think the individual schools would have a copy for each year but other than that the only other copies would be the ones the students themselves bought.
