Hi,

Find the exact year that they immigrated to the United States. You can find this information in the United States Censuses for 1900-1910-1920.Find the censuses at a Family History Center (link given in another post) or at NARA (link to locations given below.)

When you have that information, you can ask this question at one of the Swedish lists or boards.

I gave you an address for one Swedish board in another post. Here is another board.

Use the SweGGate address I gave in a different post and follow this path to find out more about the Emigrant CD and what you need for a successful lookup.

Sources --> Libraries and Media --> CD Emigranten --> SweGGate Guide

That lookup would provide you with the parish name at the time they left Sweden, and with that parish name, you can discover lots of information about these ancestors.

The Swedes have excellent records and if you understand how to research in Sweden, you will learn a great deal about these people.

Good luck!

Judy

I have been trying so far unsuccessfully to find any information on my ggrandmother who came from Sweden to Minnesota or Rock Island Illinois. There is some confusion because I have seen her name listed at one early place as Anna Sophia Nor(d)berg and then later as Anna Sophia Johnson. She married Charles Oscar Miller whose name may have been changed from Danielson, Daniellson etc. to Miller. The birthdate of your Norberg could possibly have be a sibling or cousin etc of Anna Sophia? Any thoughts on this?

My grandfather Lars Hed had two sisters Karin and Kristina Hed. Karin arrived to USA in June 1907 and Kristina in June 1911. I think Karin got the name Norberg when she was married. They came from Forsa Sweden and I think they lived in New York.
You can find them at WWW.ellisisland.org passanger search.

Maybe this is what you search.
