I am looking for the brother of James M smith 1857 a native American, the family consisting of an unknown father an unknown brother traveled to Mt Pleasant, Marshall County Mississippi in 1880,from Alabama. The unknown brother followed a young lady to Arkansas. James father, and James stayed in Mississippi, the father died in Mississippi, and is buried on kings mountain, a hill on 72 highway in Mississippi. James had land there,and married an Aleva Armor in 1881 . He had 4 Children James F., Leland Dixon, Annie, and Jimmy smith. James Died in 1923. The unknown brother returned to Alabama for a visit in his old age, he was tall with sandy hair.can you help me find him.I know this is not much to go on.

I don't know where Otis was born...he has been dead a long time and I never thought to ask...sorry I can't help you more.

I show an Elisha M. Smith b. May 1857 (?Alabama?) married Elizabeth S Unknown Smith b. Mar 1856 (?Mississippi?) I don't have death dates for either of them. Their children are:
1. Unknown Smith
2. Edna Smith Pierce who was living in Thackerville in 1954 when my grandfather died.
3. William T. Smith b. Dec 1878 (?Texas?)
4. Joseph H.(?Henry?)Smith b. Aug 1883 (?Mississippi?) possibly the Henry listed in my grandfather's obit as living in Thackerville in 1954.
5. Elisha Daniel Smith (my grandfather) b. 11 Mar 1886 Texas married Mary Bell Gibbs Smith in 1905 d.26 Jan 1954 buried 28 Jan 1954 Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville, OK
6. Sarah E. Smith b. Jun 1888 Texas
7. Jesse F.(?Frank?)Smith b. Feb 1891 (?Indian Territory?) possibly the Frank listed in my grandfather's obit as living in Mississippi in 1954
8. George A. Smith b. May 1893 (?Indian Territory?) The George in grandfather's obit living in Thackerville in 1954.

I can pass on more info on Elisha Daniel's line but that's really all I have on his parents and siblings. I was told but I can't remember by whom that they had lived in Alabama and Mississippi and my grandmother was born in Iron Co., Missouri so I don't even know how they met. My father died in 1992 and the last of his siblings died in 1998. Trying to find out info on this line because of the common surname is like that ol' needle in the haystack!
