GERRY/GARY. Looking for the parents of Daniel P. GERRY/GARY/GARRY, B. 1828 in Ontario Co. In 1830/40 there are 4 families in Bristol twp that could be his; Loren, Luman, Hiram & Rodelfus GARRY. I am interested in talking to you about these Geary / Garey families. I have a Hiram & Lois Gerry that I believe came from Ontario County NY to Ohio prior to 1850. In 1850, they are in Meigs County Ohio. Hiram's grandson, Alonzo, married into my Wilson family.

I have a Daniel P Gerry (Garry) from Ontario County NY, born in 1828.I think I found him, his sister and mother in NY,NY in 1850. By 1853 he is in Ohio Meigs county and is married to Eliza Spires. They moved to Prairie du Chien WI.Do you think this is the same Daniel Gerry.

I am looking for information on Lois Parson who I believed married Hiram Gerry. This Daniel P Gerry, had a son named Daniel D. Gerry who married Minnie Summers in Nebraska in 1890. My grandfather Carlton B Gerry, born on 1 Jan 1892, was the son of Daniel & Minnie Gerry. He also had a daughter named Gladys who was born in Illinois in 1894. In the 1900 Census Minnie had remarried T B Jackson and lived in Riverton, Nebraska. I have no idea where and when Daniel D died. I have located the graves of Minnie and Gladys in Riverton, Ne. Carlton Gerry died in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska in 1967. Please feel free to contact me with or for any information.

I am interested in the Hiram & Lois Gerry you mention in Meigs county Ohio 1950 census (looks like Gurley in the census). they have another family living on the property (or so it seems from the census entry) Jonathan Utley and Maria Antoinetta Utley. Her maiden name is Garey in the marriage document. I am not certain if Hiram and Lois are her parents or uncle/aunt, etc. Do you happen to have that information? Do you mind sharing what you have on that family re: Ontario County NY

I don't have any information from them while in Ontario NY -- just what I found in the census records and gleaned from others who have indicated they came from there as well. I suspect that Maria Antoinetta, if she was a Garey, her birth location as Ohio in 1850 must be in correct as the family just arrived Meigs years previous to 1850. Was she born in NY? I can't find the Utleys in 1860 but I did find four of their children in Wayne County IL in 1870. I think Maria was in Wayne County IL by 1865 as I see an M.A. Utley in the 1865 IL census (I can't actually see the census record but just the listing of her as I don't subscribe to that level within Ancestry). I think it is interesting that she ended up in Wayne as many families from Meigs County OH ended up there, including some of my Wilsons. Also many families from Meigs went to Winona, MN.
