George Washington Dry had three wives. Alice Fredericks, Clarissa Sowders, and Charity Patrick. My grandfather William Franklin Dry was the first born child of Alice & George. I am seeking more information about the other children of George & Alice and his other wives. I have more information about the Dry line, that goes back to Johann Georg Dry from Germany.

I am interested in more information on your George Washingont Dry. I did not recognize your email address. Have we corresponded before. I have a private Dry Family Website and will be glad to send you an inviation to join. It's free of course. I have extensive info on the Dry/Drye families that originally settled in Cabarrus County, NC after arriving earlier from Germany to Pennsylvania.

Our earliest known Dry ancestors in Cabarrus County were Johan Georg Dry and Charles Dry. I would guess that your Dry line runs through George or his brother Jacob Dry that moved from NC to Kentucky. Is this correct? Hazel Rennolds published a book some years ago on the Jacob Dry family.

The other children of George and Alice were: Minnie, Elmer Ross, Mary Elizabeth (my grandmother) and Harvey. Harvey died while young. The children of George and Clarcy(?) were Rosie, Bertha, Ethel, Mandie and Virgil. Those of George and Charity were: Pearl, Elsie, Della and Jimmy.
Mary Elizabeth married Charles Ward MArcum in 1898, Choska Indian Territory. They had 14 children, the last died at age 91.
As far as I know the father and mother of George was James J. Dry and Nancy Jane Tigret, they had 11 kids. James' father was John Dry and moter Elizabeth. Both died in Monroe County, Missouri
The children of James and Nancy were: Mrie Elizabeth, Martha Jane, James William, John Henry, George Washington, Julia A., Thomas Green, Charles M. Robert, Jennie Minnie Virginia, and Theadore Sebastian.

My sister started a search on the Marcum/Dry side of the family. My grand daddy married Mary Elizabeth Dry in Indian Territory a couple days ago, Sis has Virgil, Mandie?, Ethel, and Rosie as the children of George and his second wife, Clarcy(?)

She got back to George's father, James and his father John, how I don't know but I'm trying to get a complete picture of the Dry side as I was always told that Mary E. was Cherokee and granddad said, before he died, that he was "at least a quarter" but no one has been able to verify this through the records.

My Grandmother was Rosetta(rosie) Bell Dry, she Married Lucian Leroy West on June 3 1903, and died in California in 1957. She also told my mother that she was part cherokee and I have been checking on this Off and on for over 25 years. I have checked the Dawes and Stiller rolles and hve found a George w. Dry listed on them I still have not made a connection with him as of yet. If you want more information I have posted most of what I have on ancestry.com and Genealogy.com I will be putting more in the near future. I have gotten a copy of Clarissa(clarice) And George Dry's Marriage certificate. Her Mother had to sign for them to get Married because she was under 18 yrs of age.
