My great, great, great grandfather was Jefferson Davis born Feb 11, 1821. He married Catherine (Kate) Standlee and is buried in Bunch-Old Union Cemetery. His son John moved to Rush Springs, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. (John had married Martha Jane Williams the granddaughter of Isacc Plumlee and Margaret Bradshaw.)

I am looking for the names of his parents, grandparents,etc and the names of his other children. I would like to know his birthplace and whether or not he had any Indian blood.

I have been looking at your family from Carroll Co for some time. My ggrandfather was Aaron Davis. My ggrandmother Kessiah is buried in the Lamar cemetary. She was born 12-28-1853 and died 7-6-1931. I don't know where Aaron is buried. Kessiahs headstone reads wife of Aaron V Davis. I have found an A.B Davis on the 1880 Perry Co Ar census married to a Kirish. Also a Kessiah Davis on the 1900 Pope Co Ar Census. I see on the census that you have 2 Aarons.

There is an Aaron Davis on the 1870 Barry Co Mo census married to an Elizabeth. Some of the children on this census appear on the Perry Co census with A B Davis and Kirsh (maybe Kessiah).

I have the siblings and ancestors of Aaron Davis that Married Elizabeath going back to the 1700s. I do think somewhere along the line our families are connected. On the other side of my family my grandmother was Amanda Bell Williams from Illinois. She married David K Loyd from Mo. If any of this is of interest to you please contact me at jmasters@pe.net

I believe Jefferson Davis is also related to me. My grandmothers grandmother was Mary L. Davis. She was the first marriage of James T. Plumlee. I would also like any info on the Davis side.

Beth, It's interesting that you have Plumlee's and Davis's in your family tree, as I do.

There were at least two Jefferson Davis's who lived in Carroll County. My Jefferson Davis's son, John Davis married Martha Jane Williams. Martha Jane's mother was Rebecca Camma Plumlee. Rebecca Plumlee was born in White County Tenn Feb 8, 1812 and married first Abraham Williams around 1830. They moved to Fulton County Arkansas around 1840 via Missouri. Mr. Williams died in 1852 or '53. Rebecca then married second Abraham Standlee, a neighbor.

My notes say that Rebecca was the third daughter, 7th child born to Issac and Margret (Bradshaw) Plumlee. I will have to borrow my mother's Plumlee History and find the relationship to your James Plumlee.

If you have more information about Jefferson Davis, his parents, siblings and descendents I am very interested in learning.

MatildaC.Merryfield age 12 (She was listed as a Domestic)

I found these while looking for my Jefferson Davis with a daughter named Martha.I don't believe these are mine because my Jefferson was married to a mary or so I've been told.I know there was another Jefferson Davis with a son also named Jefferson but don't have any info on him.

Jefferson A Davis b1851 is the son of Jefferson Davis b1821 & Cartharine Standlee

He married Mary Morris. They appear in:
1900 Polo, Carroll, AR census
1910 Yocum, Carroll, AR
1920 Yocum, Carroll, AR
1930 Yocum, Carroll, AR

Their children include a Mattie J which is short for Margaret J rather than Martha. Mattie married "Fay" Humbard

Jeff A Davis and Mary M Davis are buried in Hale Cemetery in Carroll County, AR

Jefferson Davis b1821 married Catharine J Standlee

This Jefferson Davis appears by name in 1880,1870,1860 & 1850 Fed Census for Carroll County Arkansas.

In the 1850 census Jefferson lives next door to apparently his brother Aaron Davis b1824. Living with Aaron is a Jane Davis born abt 1790 in Tennessee. I believe this is Jefferson and Aaron Davis' mother.

Jane Davis also appears in the 1840 census with 2 male children which I believe are Jefferson and Aaron. On both the 1840 and 1850 Jane is living near relatives -- Standlee or Standley and Plumlee. (Jefferson's son, John L married a daughter of Rebecca C Plumlee)

The question remains -- what was Jane Davis's maiden name what was her husband's first name? How did she come to Arkansas from Tennessee.

Jefferson Davis and Catherine Standlee are my GGG Grandparents. I'm new to researching my family tree (only started in May). But one well research tree I've found, is that maintained by Peggy Seidler.

You mention that Rebecca Plumlee marries Abraham Standlee, "a neighbor." This is actually her husband's uncle. John Davis (husband to Martha Williams) is the son of Jefferson Davis and Catherine Standlee. Abraham Standlee is Catherine's brother.
