You can find help with Germans in the Lipno region at http://www.sggee.org . Lots of free stuff available there including links to available microfilmed church records, photos of the Lipno region, and a mailing list for which subscription is free. A site search for Bogpomoz yields 7 hits (some duplicated because they are from message threads). Access to extractions and other databases requires membership. Several members have done extensive research in the area.

Note that the Lipno region was in Russian Poland and not Pomerania.

Please ignore my previous reference to Pomerania. I think my mind was temporarily on another planet. :-)

Don't know if your still out there Mary, but I am a Helwig and my great-aunt married Daniel Harke who had a brother, Gottlieb. They came from Plock.

Write directly if possible otherwise just reply.

Hello,
I am still here. My great great grandmother was Karoline Harke born in Ossowka. she married Martin Werner. I think we are in the same area as my great uncle listed Plock when he came to America

Your Karoline Harke is not the same as mine. My Karoline is a Helwig who married into the Harke family with Daniel Harke. It could be that your Karoline was a sister or something to Daniel Harke.

My grandfather was Adolph Helwig. He and his sisblings came to America. One was Karoline. she married Daniel Harke. All of the Helwigs had a destination of Philadelphia, to meet up with Daniel and later as they arrived, to meet up with their siblings, all in Philadelphia. Daniel arrived first though and met up with his brother Gottlieb.

Daniel came over about 1896 and by 1910 he was in Wisconsin. He stated his last residence as Bremen.

Last night I stumbled on this obit of Elsie Harke. She was the daughter of Daniel and Koroline...

So, do you think we might be related? If so, I am hopeing you have some info to add to mine.

Thanks, Daryl...

The SGGEE Master Pedigree Database has 132 Harke listings including a couple of dozen or more from the Bogpomoz region which is just 3 or 4 km from Bobrowniki where your Helwig's were from.

I'm currently waiting for approval of my letter to be posted on the SGGEE mailing list...if I'm not mistaken thats your approval :-)

I registered and I got a letter back saying I was already registered, which I vagually remember doing.

I haven't checked any of the SGGEE info sources cause I just recently learned that I dom't need to be a member for everything. I'll surf over there shortly. Hope I find something good.

There is no cost to use the SGGEE mailing list but the system is password protected so it requires subscription (to prevent use by spammers while at the same time eliminating need for a moderator). Instructions are at http://www.sggee.org/listserv

I don't know what your email address is so cannot check it against my list. If you use the webmaster address at the site, I can confirm it for you but be aware that even I cannot see your password.
